Trump border czar receives praise from Chicago community activist on migrant crisis.
'Andre Smith, a Democrat, calls for solutions and change,' says the Democrat.
Chicago Against Violence founder Andre Smith, a Democrat, is open to collaborating with incoming Trump border czar Tom Homan to remove undocumented individuals from the city.
"Smith told Planet Chronicle Digital in an interview that he welcomed Chicago's border czar, Tom Homan, and that he wouldn't mind working with him because he was the first person in Chicago to stand up against migrants."
Smith, who is a preacher and community leader, has been actively involved in assisting his congregation in Chicago, including helping the homeless and opposing Mayor Johnson's plan to relocate migrants across the city.
"Smith stated that he would love it if Homan came to Chicago to work with him and expedited their return to their original location. He emphasized that lying to a federal official is a federal offense, and if they came over on the pretense of being in fear for their lives, then all individuals, regardless of gender, have stated that they are in fear for their lives due to someone trying to kill them. Smith added that lying must be made an example of."
The influx of migrants due to "sanctuary city" policies has caused outrage among Chicago residents, who are already grappling with one of the highest violent crime rates in the U.S.
"In Chicago, where we were supposed to be celebrating a season of joy, love, and happiness, Smith continued. However, instead of unwrapping gifts of joy and happiness, we are unwrapping gifts of neglect, disappointment, and heartaches. Specifically, we are unwrapping gifts of $575 million of taxpayer dollars that were misallocated to provide to illegal migrants. We need solutions and change."
After President-elect Donald Trump's re-election, Johnson pledged to safeguard the illegal migrants living in Chicago, stating "we will not waver or falter," as reported by WTTW.
Johnson stated that our values will remain unwavering and resolute, despite the challenges we may encounter in the upcoming four years.
Last week in Chicago, Homan urged local Republicans to persuade Illinois Democrats to negotiate, but if they refused, he advised them to "get out of the way."
That comment sparked a fiery response from Rep. Delia Ramirez, D-Ill.
Tom Homan, be prepared to face resistance when you visit #IL03, a district that has been strengthened by immigrants.
"You may believe that Chicago should move out of the way of Trump's plans for mass deportation, but we intend to obstruct in every way possible."
Democratic leaders across the country are pledging to resist Trump's mass deportation plans, as Ramirez's remarks contribute to this growing chorus of opposition.
Despite opposition from Illinois Democrats, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is willing to collaborate with Homan.
"Pritzker stated at a Northwest Side GOP meeting last week that undocumented violent criminals who have been convicted of violent crimes should be deported from the state. He emphasized that he does not want them in his state and believes they should not be in the United States."
Pritzker, 59, is considered a potential 2028 Democratic presidential hopeful.
