Trump accuses Kamala of inciting the 2nd assassination attempt, while Democrats accuse him of the Haitians in Ohio.
The idea of two presidential assassination attempts in two months is deeply unsettling.
This is beyond unacceptable.
The country deserves better for the once-and-possibly-future president than the protection he currently has.
What has become of our political system if the Secret Service can't safeguard Trump on his own golf course?
Especially since the suspected shooter with the AK-47-style rifle has a criminal record.
The second assassination attempt on Donald Trump in two months is deeply unsettling. Although the first one, where the bullet missed his ear in Butler, Pa., appeared to be a random occurrence, Sunday's attempt at his West Palm Beach course seemed more foreseeable. Despite this, Secret Service agents responded promptly.
Despite being several hundred yards away, an agent spotted the barrel of the rifle protruding through the fence and fired at the gunman, resulting in his capture and arrest.
Despite having a criminal history, the shooter, who I won't name to avoid giving him the attention he sought through his GoPro camera, was able to acquire an assault rifle.
Yesterday in court, he was charged with two offenses: having a firearm despite being a convicted felon and possessing an antiquated Soviet-era semi-automatic rifle with a serial number that had been destroyed.
Investigators say the suspect had a loaded SKS-style semi-automatic assault rifle.
Trump, initially shaken but later joking, spent time talking to journalists and supporters.
In less than 24 hours, the ex-president accused Kamala Harris and Joe Biden despite their expressions of condolence, with the VP expressing her concern over the Florida incident.
Trump told Fox’s Brooke Singman:
"He trusted the words of Biden and Harris, and he acted on them. Their words are putting me in danger, even though I am the one who will save the country, and they are the ones who are destroying it – from within and without."
Biden and Harris were labeled as "threats to democracy" by Trump, despite his claims that they are leaders promoting unity.
Trump stated, "They are the opposite. These are individuals who wish to destroy our nation."
Trump stated that the enemy from within is the real threat, and they use a combination of rhetoric and lawsuits to trap people. The same rhetoric that dangerous fools, like the shooter, listen to, and the first one, he added.
They use highly inflammatory language, but I can use it too, and I do it better than they can.
It is unlikely that many individuals, even among the ex-president's supporters, would assert that he never employs inflammatory language. As a result, both sides present the other as a threat to democracy.
Last year, a New York Times reporter interviewed the 58-year-old shooter for an article on Americans volunteering to fight in Ukraine.
It was evident that the suspect was beyond his capabilities after the call ended, as he planned to bring several hundred Afghan fighters to aid Ukraine.
He discussed purchasing corrupt officials, forging passports, and doing whatever was necessary to get his Afghan cadre to Ukraine, but he lacked a viable plan to achieve his objectives. At one point, he suggested arranging a U.S. military transport flight from Iraq to Poland with Afghan refugees willing to fight.
"I shook my head. Although it sounded ridiculous, the tone in his voice suggested otherwise. He was determined to support Ukraine's war effort, regardless of the circumstances."
The Washington Post reports that in a $2.99 book, the gunman wrote that he "must take part of the blame" for electing a "brainless" president, likely referring to Trump. The book also states, "You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment and the dismantling of the deal."
The shooter who targeted the Butler and was willing to kill Trump or the president was a desperate loser, as were other shooters who committed similar acts.
Yesterday, Biden stated that "the president is okay" and that "the service needs more help." He added that Congress should respond to their needs if they require additional services.
In 2022, a woman claiming to be the suspect's fiancée raised nearly $2,000 by stating that he had put his life on hold to travel to Kyiv in April to support the Ukrainian people. He planned to stay for at least 90 days and resided at a hostel with a military unit. Photos were provided.
Why shouldn't Democrats be allowed to criticize Trump, given the allegations of election fraud and the events of Jan. 6?
Despite denying that their rhetoric might be contributing to a toxic environment, the Democrats accuse Trump and JD Vance of inciting violence in Springfield, Ohio, where a series of bomb threats have disrupted schools, city hall, and a hospital.
The 15,000 Haitians in the town, under protected status and working, have caused tension, but Trump's "they're eating dogs, they're eating cats" statement, though debunked, has spread online with mockery. As a result, the Dems are eager to accuse immigrants of incitement.
The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire has deleted a tweet that praised anyone who murders Kamala Harris as an American hero, despite the sickness of the statement.
Protecting a presidential candidate on a golf course is challenging because members and even regular players have access to a wide, open area with little to no hiding spots. Despite the Secret Service's request for Trump to hold only indoor rallies to control access, he opted against it.
If Trump were back in the White House, the agency would shut down the entire golf course to protect him. However, the Secret Service cannot or will not do so, despite him being one of two individuals who could be in the Oval Office next January.
This is starting to feel like Russian roulette.
