Trump accuses Biden of allowing a "border invasion" that led to Laken Riley's murder, promises to carry out the "largest deportation operation" if elected.
An illegal immigrant who had previously been arrested in NYC has been confirmed as the murder suspect by ICE.
Donald Trump, the former president, criticized the Democrat's border security and law enforcement policies for Laken Riley's murder by an illegal immigrant. He promised to seal the border and deport the largest number of illegal criminals in American history if elected.
On the University of Georgia campus, a 22-year-old nursing student from Augusta University was discovered dead on Thursday after her roommate reported that she had not returned home from her morning run.
Jose Antonio Ibarra was arrested by the University of Georgia Police Department and charged with multiple crimes, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another, according to UGA Police Chief Jeffrey L. Clark, who made the announcement during a news briefing on Friday evening.
The suspect, a Venezuelan national, entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and had previously been arrested in New York City.
"Crooked Joe Biden's Border INVASION is destroying our country and killing our citizens!" Trump, the 2024 GOP frontrunner, said Monday in a post on his TRUTH Social. "The horrible murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley at the University of Georgia should have NEVER happened!"
In 2022, the monster who took her life illegally entered our country and was then released again by radical Democrats in New York after injuring a child.
Trump declared that on his first day as President, he would immediately seal the border, halt the invasion, and initiate the largest deportation of illegal CRIMINALS in American history.
He stated: "God bless Laken Riley and her family!!! Our prayers are with you!"
Ibarra, who had crossed into the U.S. illegally near El Paso in September 2022, was subsequently paroled into the country.
ICE confirmed that he was encountered by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Sept. 8, 2022, near El Paso and was released for further processing.
The New York Police Department arrested Ibarra a year later, on Sept. 14, 2023, and charged him with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation, as confirmed by ICE.
If ICE discovers that an individual they consider to be an illegal immigrant and has been arrested on criminal charges, the agency will typically file a detainer, which is a request for local law enforcement to hold the suspect until they can be transferred to ICE and initiated in deportation proceedings.
Ibarra was released before a detainer could be issued, as per ICE's statement. Additionally, NYC is a "sanctuary city," which generally limits law enforcement's ability to comply with ICE detainers.
On Saturday morning, Ibarra was present in court before Judge Donarell Green, who denied his bond "for today." Two translators were present, and Ibarra acknowledged when spoken to.
Diego Ibarra, Ibarra's brother, was charged with possessing a fraudulent green card and is currently in state custody. According to the federal arrest affidavit, Diego Ibarra was arrested in Athens-Clarke County in September 2023 for drunken driving and driving without a license. He was later arrested for shoplifting and failed to appear in court.
The Enforcement and Removal Operations office in Atlanta came across Ibarra after his arrest by the University of Georgia Police Department and being charged with murder and other crimes. ERO Atlanta then placed a detainer on him.
Ibarra faces strong evidence, according to UGA Police Chief Jeffrey L. Clark.
