On Monday in Washington, D.C., President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated, with many notable individuals attending, including former presidents, politicians, tech giants, world leaders, and others. However, a select few key figures will choose to absent themselves from the event.
Typically, presidents who leave office attend the swearing-in ceremony of their successors. Last month, President Biden stated that he would attend the second inauguration of former President Trump, despite Trump not attending Biden's inauguration four years ago. Furthermore, the White House announced that First Lady Jill Biden would also be present.
The Associated Press reports that all three living former presidents, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, have confirmed their participation in the inauguration celebrations. Additionally, their former first ladies, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton, will also be present at the event.
Some prominent Democrats, including former first lady Michelle Obama and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, have announced that they will not attend the inauguration.
Michelle Obama did not attend former President Jimmy Carter's funeral earlier this month, and a spokesperson for the Obamas did not provide additional information to the AP about her absence.
The CEOs of tech giants such as Tesla, SpaceX, Amazon, Facebook, and TikTok will be seated at the front of the dais along with other VIP guests.
The New York Times reported that Chew received an invitation from the Inaugural Committee, according to a source familiar with the plans.
Xi Jinping, along with other world leaders, received an invitation from Trump to attend an event.

According to Politico, both Milei and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are expected to attend the event.
No foreign leaders have previously attended any U.S. inaugurations, according to State Department historical records.
