The trial of Hunter Biden's tax issues has been postponed until September.

The federal judge presiding over Hunter Biden's criminal tax trial in California has postponed the trial from June to September, in favor of the first son's attorneys.

On Wednesday, during a pre-trial hearing, Judge Mark Scarsi listened to arguments from Hunter Biden's lawyers, who requested a postponement of his trial on tax charges related to Special Counsel David Weiss' investigation.

In the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to federal tax charges, including three felonies and six misdemeanors related to $1.4 million in unpaid taxes that have since been settled.

The president's son did not pay his federal income taxes from January 2017 to October 2020 and filed false tax reports, according to Weiss's allegations.

The trial, originally scheduled to start on June 20, was postponed by Scarsi, with jury selection set to begin on Sept. 5.

Earlier this month, federal prosecutors requested that Scarsi reject Biden's request to postpone his trial, following the first son's attorneys' agreement to the June 20 date last year.

"The motion argues that no defendant should be granted a continuance because they made a mistake by filing a frivolous appeal, and this defendant should not be treated any differently. The defense attorney presents several reasons for requesting a 77-day trial delay, but none of them justify a continuance. The motion should be denied."

The trial of the first son on federal gun charges will commence on June 3 in Delaware.

In Delaware, Weiss accused Hunter Biden of lying about the information needed to purchase a firearm, lying about the information required to be kept by a licensed firearm dealer, and possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to the charges in Delaware.
