The top five clashes of the Harris-Trump presidential debate: "I'm talking now" rephrased.
The first and only debate between Harris and Trump took place in Philadelphia.
The vice president and former president engaged in a heated exchange during the presidential debate on Tuesday.
The debate between Harris and Trump, which took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the first and only one between the two candidates. After the debate, the Harris campaign stated that she is prepared for a second debate, while Trump said on Wednesday morning during a "Fox and Friends" interview that he believes he won the debate and is less inclined to participate in another debate with Harris.
Here are some of the top clashes of the night:
Abortion fight
The early conflict between Harris and Trump centered on abortion, with Harris accusing Trump of paving the way for "Trump abortion bans" through his appointment of justices who ultimately overturned Roe v Wade.
If Donald Trump is re-elected, he will sign a national abortion ban, according to her statement.
Trump and Harris would eventually challenge each other on the topic of abortion, with Trump asking if Harris would support late-term abortions and Harris challenging Trump to say if he would veto a federal abortion ban.
"Will she permit abortion in the seventh, eighth, or ninth month?" Trump inquired.
"Come on," Harris said.
"OK, would you do that?" he responded.
Trump urged the moderators to ask her that question.
Would you veto answering the question, Harris asked Trump?
Are Trump's rallies boring?
Trump was upset by Harris when she accused him of having uninteresting rallies and claimed that he spoke about windmills causing cancer.
"People are leaving his rallies early due to exhaustion and boredom. You won't hear him discuss you."
Trump responded by stating that people do not attend her rallies because there is no reason to go. He added that those who do attend are bused in and paid to be there, and their presence is manipulated to hide her true actions. In contrast, Trump boasted about the size and success of his rallies, claiming they are the largest and most impressive in political history.
"I’m talking now"
On Tuesday evening, Trump employed a remark similar to one used by Harris during the 2020 vice presidential debate, where she repeatedly said to then-Vice President Mike Pence, "I’m speaking."
""Please, I'm currently speaking. Do you recognize that?" Trump stated."
Harris smiled as she clearly got the reference.
'I am not Joe Biden'
"She is Biden, and she's trying to distance herself from him. 'I don't know the gentleman,' she says. The worst inflation we've ever had has led to a horrible economy, and she can't escape it," he said.
Harris responded, stating that she was not Joe Biden or Donald Trump and offered a new generation of leadership for the country.
Spar over Russia
Harris and Trump attacked one another over Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"He has stated that he admires dictators and wants to be one from the start, according to him. He has also said that Putin can do whatever he wants and go into Ukraine. He has also stated that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was brilliant," she said.
Harris was accused of being "weak on national security" by Trump, who also claimed she had Putin's endorsement.
Last week, Putin endorsed her and said, "I hope she wins," which I believe he meant sincerely because of the incredible things he has accomplished. In contrast, I don't think it would have been possible for me to achieve the same level of success.
