The newly elected governor of America adopts a strategy similar to Trump's by establishing a commission reminiscent of DOGE.
Chris Sununu's successor as New Hampshire Governor is Kelly Ayotte.
The newly-elected governor of the United States is introducing a new government efficiency commission, which bears some resemblance to a similar national initiative proposed by President-elect Trump.
In her inaugural address, Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire highlighted the state's budget difficulties, which she attributed to the depletion of federal COVID relief funds and a decline in business revenues.
Ayotte stated that we will need to explore more efficient methods with less funding.
The new governor announced the formation of the Commission on Government Efficiency, or "COGE," because he knew that getting politicians to refrain from spending money is the most challenging task.
Ayotte maintained that COGE would enhance our ability to save taxpayer money and improve services for state residents.
In an exclusive interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Ayotte hinted at her proposal by stressing the importance of finding new, efficient ways to serve taxpayers.
New Hampshire's governor has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the "Department of Government Efficiency," nearly two months after Trump made the same move.
The state lawmakers present at New Hampshire's Statehouse applauded Ayotte's proposal during the governor's inauguration. In November, Republicans gained significant ground in the state House and Senate, increasing their majorities.
Manchester, New Hampshire's largest city, was praised by Republican Mayor Jay Ruais for his "brilliant approach" in a statement to Planet Chronicle.
As a rising star in his party, Ruais believes that appointing a commission to tackle any form of waste is a smart move that will benefit both the state and local governments.
New Hampshire Democrats obviously disagree.
Ray Buckley, the longtime New Hampshire Democratic Party chair, argued that Governor Ayotte has already started preparing for significant budget cuts to essential services, just twenty-four hours after taking office. This is a result of years of failed Republican policies that she supported.
""Governor Ayotte is mirroring Trump's tactics and putting New Hampshire on a risky course," Buckley stated."
In November's election, Joyce Craig, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee and former Manchester Mayor, lost to Ayotte, a former U.S. senator and state attorney general, by nearly 10 points. This loss kept the governor's office in GOP hands.
In her speech, Ayotte commended her predecessor's policies, which she pledged to uphold in her own term.
Governor Chris Sununu deserves the most credit for New Hampshire's progress after four terms in office, according to Ayotte. "Thank you, Governor," she said.
Ayotte informed GOP state legislative leaders that she anticipates collaborating with them in the upcoming two years to strengthen the Republican majority and fulfill the commitments made to maintain the state's progress.
Ayotte restated a longstanding commitment by New Hampshire Republicans that she will not surprise anyone by saying that there will be no income tax, no sales tax, at any point in the future.
Ayotte reached out to Democrats and stated, "My door is always open. Good government transcends parties."
"Regardless of your political affiliation - Republican, Democrat, Independent or any other - I will serve as your governor. Our state is vast and encompasses more than just a party or ideology," she stated.
During her gubernatorial campaign, Ayotte pledged to lawmakers that she would veto any legislation that restricts access to abortion beyond the current law.
Abortions are legal in New Hampshire through 24 weeks of pregnancy.
In addition to gaining attention, Ayotte declared her intention to prohibit cell phones in public schools in the state.
The governor stated that she frequently discusses with her husband, Joe, a retired Air Force pilot and middle school math teacher, about the challenges he faces in the classroom and the needs of his students. As a retired Air Force pilot who flew combat missions over Iraq, Joe is one of the thousands of teachers across the state who are on the front lines of our education system. Teachers have a unique perspective on what is working for our students and what isn't, and we need to listen to them.
Ayotte announced that cell phones will be banned in schools because screens are negatively affecting learning environments and drawing students' attention.
On the eve of Ayotte's inauguration, Sununu, who had been in office for eight years and four election victories in New Hampshire and Vermont, praised his successor in a Planet Chronicle Digital interview.
"Kelly has been a loyal friend for many years. She will make an excellent governor for New Hampshire. As a native of the state, she is fully prepared to take on the role and work with a strong team here," Sununu stated.
The governor stated that he would always be available for advice, even after leaving office.
