The House DOGE Caucus focuses on federal employees and government regulations in a new goal-setting memo.
On Wednesday, the DOGE Caucus will be conducting its second gathering.
The Congressional Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus is set to reveal a set of "principles" aimed at reducing government waste during its second-ever meeting on Wednesday.
The caucus aligned with the DOGE advisory panel established by President-elect Donald Trump by outlining eight goals, some practical and others symbolic.
According to a draft memo obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital, the first principle read that "the federal government must serve the interests of taxpayers and taxpayers are best served by a lean, efficient, transparent, and accountable bureaucracy."
The document recommended both ambitious and smaller-scale objectives. "No amount of waste, fraud, abuse, duplication, or administrative bloat is too small or too large to address." DOGE Caucus leaders had previously prioritized "low-hanging fruit" to begin their mission, such as unused federal office space held by agencies with remote work policies.
The memo requires these employees to show effectiveness and responsiveness to taxpayers while avoiding any unnecessary costs or burdens.
Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., who established the caucus, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital, "We have presented our vision in a clear and easily understandable way for all Americans."
Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, stated that the mandate is clear: every dollar spent in Washington must provide a direct benefit to the people it serves, while prioritizing transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
The caucus advocated for the removal of any federal agencies, programs, rules, regulations, or functions that do not benefit taxpayers, if they cannot be improved.
The DOGE Caucus leaders are emphasizing the need to limit the power of unelected bureaucrats by advocating for regulations to be based on statutes and not arbitrary decisions.
The third co-chair of the group, Vice Chair of the House GOP Conference Blake Moore, R-Utah, stated that the DOGE Caucus has been quick to organize its members and create a clear plan for achieving its goals. These principles highlight how the group intends to achieve its objectives, which include reducing wasteful federal spending, simplifying the bureaucracy, and making Washington more efficient for the benefit of Americans.
Lawmakers held their initial meeting in mid-December, with caucus members present.
Members on both sides of the political aisle have shown surprising enthusiasm for the push to cut government waste. Several Democrats have already joined the caucus, and at least three were present at the first meeting.
Late last year, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss their plans for the DOGE panel.
