The hiking of the US defense budget is declared the top priority in foreign affairs by John Bolton.
Some of President-elect Trump's nominations have been criticized by Bolton.
John Bolton, the former national security advisor, stated that increasing the U.S. defense budget is the top priority in foreign affairs.
Bolton stated in a post on X that the top priority in foreign affairs today is to boost the American defense budget, and he believes Congress would back a significant increase if Trump proposed it.
During a CNN appearance last month, Bolton stated that he hopes Hegseth, Trump's nominee for Defense Secretary, obtains a significant increase in the Defense Department budget. He added that if domestic spending is reduced to prevent the deficit from rising, that would also be significant.
Kash Patel's appointment as FBI director should be opposed by the Senate, according to Bolton.
J.D. Vance, Vice President-elect, stated in a post on X that John Bolton has been incorrect about everything, so Kash must be exceptional.
Previously, Bolton recommended that the Senate should reject Trump's nomination of Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence and Matt Gaetz for attorney general.
Last month, former Rep. Gaetz withdrew from the role, prompting Bolton to tweet, "One down, more to follow."
Last month, Elon Musk tweeted that Bolton was a "staggeringly dumb warmonger."
In a July post, Musk called Bolton "a belligerent idiot."
During Trump's first term, Bolton served as national security advisor and previously held the position of U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush.
