Trump and Biden paid tribute to former President Carter, with Trump expressing gratitude and Biden honoring him as a "dear friend."

The 39th president of the United States, a peanut farmer, and a proponent of a "competent and compassionate" government, Carter, passed away at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Sunday at the age of 100.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that he just learned about the passing of President Jimmy Carter and that only those who have served as President can understand the immense responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History. He acknowledged that Carter faced significant challenges during his presidency, but he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of all Americans. As a result, Trump expressed gratitude for Carter's contributions to the country.

The incoming president stated that he and Melania are thinking warmly of the Carter Family and their loved ones during this difficult time. He urged everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers.

Trump acknowledged that Carter deeply loved and respected the US despite their philosophical and political differences.

"He worked tirelessly to improve America and deserves my utmost admiration. He was an exceptional individual who will be deeply missed, and his impact will be felt for years to come."

President Biden also stated that the world lost an exceptional leader, diplomat, and philanthropist.

"Jimmy Carter, a dear friend to us for over six decades, was an extraordinary individual who touched the lives of millions of people worldwide. Through his compassion and moral clarity, he worked to eradicate disease, forge peace, advance civil rights and human rights, promote free and fair elections, house the homeless, and always advocate for the least among us. He saved, lifted, and changed the lives of people all across the globe."

Carter was described by Biden as a courageous, optimistic individual with great character and hope.

He stated that the love between Carter and Rosalynn is the definition of partnership, and their leadership is the definition of patriotism.

Biden expressed his gratitude to the Carter family for sharing their loved ones with America and the world. He also thanked their staff for continuing to do the good works that uphold their legacy.

Biden encouraged young people and those seeking a purposeful life to study Jimmy Carter, a man of integrity, faith, and humility. Carter demonstrated that our nation's greatness comes from our people's goodness - their decency, honor, courage, compassion, humility, and strength.

Carter's life was a testament to the power of service, as Vice President Kamala Harris stated, whether he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, governor of Georgia, or president of the United States.

President Carter's love and support from his partner of 77 years, First Lady Rosalynn Carter, helped him throughout his life. After leaving office, Carter continued his fight for peace, democracy, and human dignity through the Carter Center.

""I was honored to know President Carter for many years. His kindness, wisdom, and profound grace will forever remain etched in my memory. His life and legacy continue to inspire me and future generations. The world is a better place because of him. We, Doug and I, send our love and prayers to the Carter family," she said."
