On Saturday, President-elect Trump appointed Florida sheriff Chad Chronister to head the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
Sheriff Chad Chronister has been serving the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for over 32 years and has received numerous commendations and awards for ensuring the safety of his community. Trump announced this information in his announcement, which followed his nomination of Kash Patel to replace Christopher Wray as FBI director.
Chad, a proud graduate of the FBI National Academy's 260th Session, is the Co-Chairman of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for Region IV Tampa Bay, a Council Member of the Florida Attorney General’s Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, Chairman of the Criminal Justice Sub-Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Hillsborough County Public Safety Coordinating Council, and Vice-Chairman of the Hillsborough County Public Schools Citizen Oversight Committee.
Trump appointed Chronister to work with Pam Bondi, his nominee for attorney general, to secure the border, stop the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs across the southern border, and save lives.
Chad, his wife Nikki, and their two wonderful sons received congratulations.
In a statement on social media, Chronister referred to his nomination as "the greatest honor of my life."
He expressed deep humility about serving our country.
