The Biden administration unveils a national plan to address Islamophobia and anti-Arab hatred.

The Biden administration declared on Thursday that it is introducing a nationwide plan to counter Islamophobia.

The administration's first-ever Strategy to Counter Islamophobia and Anti-Arab Hate was announced more than a year after Hamas' attack on Israel in October 2023, which led to an increase in antisemitic protests and antisemitism in the United States.

Planet Chronicle Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

"President Biden stated on social media that the foundation of America is the belief that everyone is equal and should be treated equally. This strategy represents a significant advancement towards fulfilling our ideals. Let us work together to maintain these ideals and promote collective prosperity."

The White House aims to tackle the bias, discrimination, and threats that Muslim and Arab Americans have faced for a long time, as stated in a release. According to the release, the number of threats against Muslim and Arab communities in the U.S. has increased over the past year.

In October 2023, an American Muslim boy of Palestinian descent named Wadee Alfayoumi was brutally murdered in his Illinois home. Over the past year, there have been other devastating attacks on Muslim and Arab Americans.

In December 2022, President Biden formed an interagency group to combat antisemitism and Islamophobia. The administration released its first-ever National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism last year.

To combat Islamophobia, the strategy will focus on enhancing awareness of anti-Arab prejudice, ensuring safety, addressing discrimination, accommodating religious practices, and fostering unity among communities.

The number of antisemitic incidents increased following the October 7 attack on Israel and the ongoing conflict with Hamas.
