Source reveals that the USSS assistant director was encouraged to retire following the assassination attempt on Trump.
The USSS is set to share their insights with Congress on the lessons learned from the assassination attempt on President Trump on July 13.
A senior official in the US Secret Service has been advised to retire just over two months after the assassination attempt on former President Trump in Pennsylvania, according to a source close to the internal investigation, as reported by Planet Chronicle.
Michael Plati, the Assistant Director of the Office of Protective Operations at the agency, has been in charge of planning for the protection of President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Sen. JD Vance, and others for the past 27 years. He is ending his tenure on Friday.
Despite the Secret Service's statement that Plati resigned on his own accord, others involved in the investigation have not denied the rumors that he was pressured to resign after the July 13 security breach in Butler.
In the near future, the USSS will provide Congress with insights gleaned from the assassination attempt on Trump.
The Secret Service stated that it "respects the role of oversight and will continue to make employees available for transcribed interviews and provide responsive documentation to Congress. To date, we have provided over 2,400 pages of documentation, and our efforts will continue as we strive to learn from this failure and prevent it from happening again."
Plati gave a month's notice to ensure a smooth transition. Planet Chronicle is informed that Congress will be briefed on the retirement's connection to the shooting investigation, but the spokesman claims it was preplanned and the timing was coincidental.
Plati spokesman Greg Henning stated that Mike has been discussing his retirement for over a year, which will occur on the date of his 27th anniversary working for the Secret Service. He approached Acting Director Ronald Rowe about his retirement last month, prior to the DNC. Contrary to any false rumors, Mike was not asked to retire or resign.
The Secret Service agent who wished to remain unidentified expressed dissatisfaction with Mike Plati's retirement.
The USSS Director resigned on July 23 due to mounting pressure following the assassination attempt on the former president, as confirmed by Planet Chronicle.
The DOD has provided additional security assistance to the USSS for protecting political figures.
The DOD will provide additional assistance, including logistics, transportation, and communications, to the Secret Service through the 2024 campaign season, as announced by Anthony Guglielmi, the U.S. Secret Service chief of communications, last month.
