The allegations in the indictment claim that the smugglers enlisted Guatemalan migrants to enter the U.S. unlawfully, received payments from them, and provided written instructions to migrant children on how to respond if caught by U.S. immigration officials.
The discovery of the crash with migrants inside the cargo trailer, which had been loaded with approximately 200 migrants, left rescue workers with a pile of both the living and the dead.
