Schumer proposes legislation to empower local officials to promptly address drone sightings.
The enigma of potential drones in New Jersey and New York persists.
This week, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., plans to advance drone legislation that will empower local officials to address the increasing issue of drone sightings.
Lawmakers are urging the Biden administration to be more transparent regarding the drones flying over New Jersey and New York, specifically near military research facilities and Trump's golf course, and why the government is not taking any action against them.
Alejandro Mayorkas, Homeland Security Secretary, has been urged by Schumer to promptly utilize any drone-detection technology available to address the recent drone sightings in New York and New Jersey.

Despite the abundance of reports regarding potential drone activity, there is a scarcity of information regarding the source and operator of some of the drones.
Schumer stated that local officials lack the resources and authority to determine the root cause of the issue.
In addition to requesting the Senate's assistance in passing the legislation, Schumer urged the DHS to take all necessary measures to deploy as many drone-detecting resources as possible.
The Robin Radar System is a technology that tracks and classifies birds, bats, or drones using 360° radar systems that log thousands of observations every second.
Robin systems could aid local officials in gathering accurate information about the origin of drones, according to Schumer.
""The Department of Homeland Security must take immediate action to deploy a flock of ROBIN-like technology systems across the New York City metro area," he stated."
On Tuesday afternoon, the House Intelligence Committee will receive a classified briefing on drone activity, according to a source familiar with the matter. Biden administration officials from the FBI, Department of Defense, CIA, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence will hold the briefing.
