RFK Jr. intends to meet with Democrats to secure confirmation as Trump's HHS head.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. intends to meet with both Senate Democrats and Republicans to gain support for his confirmation as HHS secretary in President-elect Trump's incoming administration.
The former independent presidential candidate did not specify which Senate Democrats he would meet.
"I don't know," he said when asked by reporters.
Kennedy commenced his Capitol Hill meetings for his HHS nomination on Monday, meeting with several Republicans. No Democratic senators were present in the list of dozens of lawmakers he was scheduled to meet with at the start of the week.
Some Republican and Democrat senators have cited his outspoken skepticism of vaccinations as a concern.
Abortion rights are also a cause that Kennedy supports, and he has advocated for abortion access throughout his life. This has raised questions among some Republicans, given that HHS has some control over regulations related to abortion and those who provide it.
The coalition backing Kennedy in the Senate is uncertain, as it's unclear whether he will receive support from all Republicans or if some Democrats will be necessary to secure his victory.
