Report suggests that Trump may select South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem for the position of Homeland Security secretary.
As head of the Department of Homeland Security, Noem would have a significant role in enforcing immigration policies and safeguarding the border.
According to multiple reports on Tuesday, it is predicted that President-elect Donald Trump will choose South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to serve as the Homeland Security secretary.
Since 2019, Noem has been serving as the governor of The Mount Rushmore State, although he was previously considered a possible running mate on the Trump ticket earlier in the year.
The Department of Homeland Security oversees US Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, US Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
On Sunday, it was announced that Noem would collaborate with Tom Homan, Trump's "border czar," and Stephen Miller, the White House deputy of staff for policy, on Monday.
On Monday night, it was revealed that Trump intends to appoint Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as his secretary of state.
As of Tuesday morning, no official announcement from Trump or Noem has been made.
