As you begin your term as the forty-seventh President of the United States, I extend warm wishes and pray that God will bestow upon you the wisdom, strength, and protection needed to fulfill your responsibilities.
"I hope that, under your leadership, the American people will thrive and continually work towards creating a fairer society, free of prejudice, bigotry, and exclusion, as our nation's ideals of being a land of opportunity and welcome for all inspire us."
Amid numerous challenges and the scourge of war, Pope Francis asked God to guide efforts in promoting peace and reconciliation among peoples.

Last year, the pope attributed Trump's assassination attempts to "fake news."
In his annual "state of the world" address, Francis identified "fake news" as the source of division and mistrust that resulted in two attempts on Trump's life in 2024.
The phenomenon generates false images of reality, fostering a climate of suspicion and hate, which undermines people's sense of security and stability, leading to tragic consequences such as the attacks on the chairman of the government of the Slovak Republic and the president-elect of the United States of America.
