Pompeo criticizes White House over Iran election interference report: 'Weakness and appeasement'
The Biden-Harris administration has made Tehran 'flush with cash and powerful', according to the former secretary of state.
Mike Pompeo, the former Secretary of State, criticized the White House following a recent intelligence report that revealed Iran is attempting to undermine the 2020 presidential campaign of former President Trump. Pompeo contended that the Biden-Harris administration's approach of "weakness and appeasement" only emboldens Tehran.
During a press briefing by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) on Monday, an official disclosed that U.S. spy agencies have observed Tehran's efforts to sway the presidential election. The official stated that this was likely due to Iranian leaders' desire to prevent any potential conflicts with the U.S.
The regime is reportedly utilizing extensive networks of online identities and propaganda factories to disseminate false information. Despite the ODNI not stating that Iran was specifically targeting Trump, an official stated that they have not observed any change in Tehran's objectives since 2020, indicating that they continue to aim at the Republican candidate.
On Tuesday, Pompeo told Planet Chronicle Digital that he was not surprised by Iran's attempts to influence the election. He explained that Iran was "isolated, broke, and weak" when he left office in January 2021 and accused the Biden administration of enabling the Iranian regime.
"It is unsurprising that the Iranian government would take all necessary measures to hinder a second Trump presidency," Pompeo stated.
In contrast, the Biden-Harris administration has pursued a policy of weakness and appeasement, resulting in Iran's current flush of cash and power.
The former Secretary of State stated that Tehran "hates" American values and anticipates continued interference in the 2024 presidential election.
Pompeo stated that the regime will do everything in its power to interfere with our democracy in order to support Kamala Harris, who will continue to implement policies of weakness and maintain the regime's wealth and power.
The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran rejected the allegations of interference on Monday.
"A spokesperson stated that Iran does not have any objectives or activities aimed at influencing the U.S. election. The majority of such accusations are based on psychological operations intended to artificially boost election campaigns."
The Islamic Republic of Iran has denied any involvement in a plot to assassinate former President Trump on July 13, after a gunman shot him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The FBI's deputy director Paul Abbate stated during a joint hearing on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that officials are "keeping all options open" regarding Iran's possible involvement.
""We have no evidence of any co-conspirators, foreign or domestic, including Iran, related to this, but we're not ruling anything out. We're looking into all possibilities and keeping our minds open to that," Abbate stated."
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to the White House for comment.
