"Police union endorses Trump, attacks Harris as a 'crime wave' supporter": Trump
The nation's oldest and largest police organization is the organization.
The oldest and largest police organization in the country endorsed Donald Trump on Friday, expressing their confidence that they want him to be reelected, while the former president criticized his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, as someone who undermines law enforcement and promised to put an end to "Kamala's crime wave" if elected.
On Friday, Trump journeyed to North Carolina to address a gathering of the Fraternal Order of Police and receive their endorsement, which he deemed an "honor." The group had previously supported Trump in 2016 and 2020.
"FOP National President Patrick Yoes stated that public safety and border security will be crucial topics during the last months of the campaign. He added that after carefully evaluating the candidates' positions on these issues, there was no question about who the members wanted as their President for the next four years: Donald J. Trump."
During Trump's first term, he made it clear that he supported law enforcement and border security, as stated by Yoes.
""In the summer of 2020, he stood with us when very few would. With his help, we defeated the ‘defund the police’ movement and, finally, we are seeing crime rates decrease. If we want to maintain these lower crime rates, we must re-elect Donald Trump," he said."
Trump met with FOP leadership, but Kamala Harris' campaign did not offer a similar meeting.
"The FOP, being the oldest and largest law enforcement labor organization, is highly sought after for its presidential endorsement. As the voice of America's law enforcement, the FOP has a responsibility to its members, the 800,000 sworn officers in the US, and the communities they serve to influence the country's future direction."
During his first term, Trump gave our nation strong and effective leadership, as he stated.
Yoes stated that they plan to assist him in winning re-election.
During an event with members of the Fraternal Order of Police on Friday afternoon, Trump highlighted the endorsement he received.
"I'm thrilled to be back with the Fraternal Order of Police, an incredible group and a group that's highly respected all over the country."
As your president, I will always support law enforcement officers, respecting and admiring their service.
Trump blasted his opponent Vice President Kamala Harris as a "defunder."
"I am more blue than any other. Unlike Kamala, I was not a defunder. She was a ten-year defunder. When you want to defend for ten years, that's the end of that one," Trump said.
He quipped: "If I were to exit now, you'd assert that we'd definitely vote for that candidate."
"You are America's finest, as Trump stated, and we appreciate your presence in this room."
Trump stated that law enforcement officers aim to "safeguard our nation, thrive, and cherish our country."
Trump thanked the people of the country for respecting the great job that he does, acknowledging that they all know about him.
"Under the Harris administration, law-abiding citizens suffer while criminals roam free, leaving our country in third-world conditions. We are a third-world country, but we will clean up quickly. As President, I will not tolerate this and will take action to improve our nation."
Since the Biden-Harris administration took office, there has been a 43% increase in violent crime, with a 58% increase in rape and an 89% increase in aggravated assault, according to Trump.
"Under Comrade Kamala, assaults on police officers have increased by at least 32%, and many of them go unreported. If they are reported, they are not taken down. Additionally, shootings of police officers have increased by over 16%," Trump stated. "The day I take office will mark the end of Kamala's crime wave. Our country has never experienced anything like it."
