Pence discloses conversations with Trump at Carter's funeral.
Pence vowed to continuously pray for you.
At former President Carter's state funeral, a brief exchange between former Vice President Mike Pence and President-elect Trump was captured on camera.
Since leaving the White House in disagreement over the 2020 election results, the pair have not been seen publicly together. However, at the service at the National Cathedral, Pence stood up to shake Trump's hand, and they appeared to exchange pleasantries.
Karen Pence, seated next to her husband, did not rise or acknowledge Trump.
In an interview with Christianity Today, Pence stated that he "embraced" the chance to converse with Trump.
"When he descended the aisle, he greeted me. I stood up and extended my hand. He shook my hand. I said, 'Congratulations, Mr. President,' and he replied, 'Thanks, Mike,'" Pence stated.
Trump responded, "Don't bother," during one of their final conversations in 2021, when Pence informed him he would continue to pray for him.
"I stated, 'There are likely two things we'll never agree on, including what my constitutional duty was on January 6th.' Then I added, 'I'll always continue to pray for you.' To which he replied, 'That's correct, Mike, keep it that way.'"
He said he kept his word.
Pence expressed his doubts about Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s suitability to lead Health and Human Services and voiced concerns about Tulsi Gabbard's potential as national intelligence director, despite appearing friendly with both at Carter's service.
Trump and Advancing American Freedom, a public policy advocacy organization founded by Pence, were contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for comment but no immediate response was received.
