Over 100 former Justice Department officials urge the Senate to confirm Pam Bondi as Attorney General.

A group of ex-Justice Department officials wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, expressing their support for the confirmation of President-elect Trump's attorney general nominee, Pam Bondi, in the coming weeks. They highlighted her dedication to upholding the law and her successful tenure as Florida's former attorney general, arguing that these qualities make her an ideal fit for the role.

Over 110 senior Justice Department officials, including former U.S. attorneys general John Ashcroft, Jeff Sessions, Bill Barr, and Edwin Meese, signed a letter exclusively previewed to Planet Chronicle Digital.

Notable signatories include former acting attorney general Matthew Whitaker, deputy attorneys general Rod Rosenstein and Jeffrey Rosen, and Randy Grossman, who served as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of California under the Biden administration.

The former attorney general of Florida, Bondi, received "strong and enthusiastic support" from DOJ alumni who had previously worked with her for 18 years as a prosecutor in the Hillsborough County State Attorney's office.

Rarely do senior Justice Department officials, let alone Attorneys General, possess such extensive experience in the practical aspects of ensuring public safety.

The Attorney General, Bondi, will be prepared to defend the American people from the start of her career as a prosecutor, combat crime, address the opioid epidemic, support law enforcement, and restore the Department of Justice's reputation, according to the letter sent to Sens. Grassley and Durbin.

Bondi's work as Florida's attorney general was highly praised, particularly for her aggressive crackdown on opioid drugs and the many "pill mills" operating in the state. Additionally, her efforts to end human trafficking and prosecute violent crime in the state were widely recognized and admired.

Officials highlighted Bondi's accomplishments in Florida, including securing consumer protection victories and economic relief for residents. In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, Bondi's leadership of the National Mortgage Settlement resulted in $56 billion in compensation for victims. Additionally, her lawsuit against BP and other companies responsible for the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill resulted in a $2 billion settlement in economic relief.

Bondi's dedication to upholding the law and her history of collaborating with others were emphasized in the letter.

"We have worked directly with Attorney General Bondi and can attest to her integrity and commitment to the rule of law. Many of us also know and admire her reputation as a successful lawyer and advocate."

"We, as former DOJ officials, are aware of the challenges that the new Attorney General will face and are confident that she is capable of handling them."

The president-elect's staunch loyalty to Bondi, who has worked with him since 2020, has been praised by those close to her. She has a long record as a prosecutor and has been co-chair of the Center for Law and Justice at the AFPI, a think tank set up by former Trump staffers.

She was a member of Trump's Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during his first presidential term.

According to Bondi's former colleagues, she plans to use the same tactics she employed in Florida to combat drug trafficking, fentanyl use, and the cartels responsible for smuggling drugs across the border.

"The Justice Department and the nation will benefit greatly from Attorney General Bondi's leadership, as stated by DOJ officials in conclusion. They strongly urge her confirmation as the next Attorney General of the United States."
