One teen dies after being stabbed by a migrant gang.
The 'Diablos de la 42' gang, linked to the international Venezuelan terrorist organization 'Tren de Aragua,' was involved in the deaths of both victims.
A fatal immigrant gang stabbing in Lower Manhattan has left one teenager dead and another injured, and New York police are currently investigating the incident.
According to ABC7 NY, the stabbing occurred due to a dispute between migrant gangs that have seized control of several New York City-owned migrant hotels in the area.
On Dec. 5, at 7:43 p.m., two teenage migrants, who were reportedly associated with the Venezuelan gang "Los Diablos de la 42," were attacked by three unknown assailants.
A 17-year-old named Yeremi Colino, who was staying at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, which is being used as a migrant shelter funded by the City of New York, was stabbed in the chest and died from his wounds in a nearby hospital after a bystander called 911.
An 18-year-old migrant named Alan Magalles Bello was stabbed in the arm with a screwdriver and is expected to recover.
Three masked assailants were caught on camera, but no arrests have been made by police yet.
As early reports suggested, the assailants targeted the two victims due to their English language, prompting an initial investigation into the incident as a hate crime. Several Democratic politicians swiftly denounced the attack as "racist."
According to amNewYork Metro, Congressman Dan Goldman stated that "two migrant teenagers were stabbed in our city because they didn't speak English."
"He strongly condemned the racist and xenophobic hatred, stating that it has no place in the city and must be rejected. He further added that the suspects must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Video footage revealed that the confrontation over gang signs led to the attack, and as a result, the police are no longer treating it as a hate crime.
Video footage shows the victims confronting a larger group about gang signs before a fight broke out, resulting in the death of Colino and injuries to Bello.
According to the New York Post, both victims were linked to the "Diablos de la 42" gang, which has connections to the international Venezuelan terrorist organization "Tren de Aragua."
The Caribbean migrant community is believed to have produced the suspects, who are thought to be gang members, according to ABC7 NY.
The Diablos gang has expressed condolences for the death of Colino and pledged revenge against the Caribbean gang, according to New York Police Department Detective Bureau Assistant Chief Jason Savino.
