On Thursday, at Jimmy Carter's funeral in Washington, D.C., Donald and Melania Trump paid their respects, seemingly putting aside their political differences.

As the rest of the presidential and vice presidential families filed in, Trump and former President Barack Obama chatted and chuckled, seated at the end of the second row.

Trump, dressed in a dark suit and a more subdued blue tie, filed before 10 a.m. ET, in contrast to his trademark red "Trump tie."

Al Gore was the first to greet him as he entered his row.

Gore, a Tennessee Democrat, was not accompanied by a significant other at the ceremony. He has been separated from his former first lady, Tipper Gore, since 2010.

Notably absent from the event were former Vice President Dick Cheney and former first lady Lynne Cheney. Trump has notably clashed with his fellow Republican leader, and Cheney notably called him a "coward" during her ex-Rep. Liz Cheney's doomed 2022 re-election bid in Wyoming.

As Trump walked into the row, he briefly spoke with his former vice president and ally, Mike Pence. However, their relationship deteriorated after the January 6, 2021 Capitol Riot, when Pence's supporters threatened to hang him.

It seemed like Pence said "good to see you" to Trump, although it was unclear what he actually said.

Notably, Karen Pence did not engage or stand when her husband and Gore greeted Trump.

Obama paused to share a quick jovial comment with former Vice President Dan Quayle after the Trumps were seated, but Michelle Obama was not present.

Marilyn Quayle, the former first lady, sat next to Gore, while Quayle, the first of the two Indiana Republican vice presidents of this generation, was seated on the aisle.

The former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, soon arrived.

Bush appeared to receive the largest greeting of the living presidents assembled.

Bush was unimpeded in his conversation with Obama and Trump while Pence, Karen Pence, Gore, and the Quayles greeted each other.

As Bill and Hillary Clinton arrived, Trump and Obama mostly ignored them while they conversed.

Former President Clinton appeared lively and healthy at the funeral.

Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff arrived next.

Trump did not visibly acknowledge Harris, nor Harris to him.

As the Clintons perused their programs, Emhoff and Harris exchanged a brief smile before refocusing on the solemn occasion.

As Trump conversed with Melania, neither he nor Obama greeted President and first lady Biden upon their arrival.

Jill Biden sat first, allowing President Biden to sit by taking his program off his chair.

The Bidens were the only family present at the event, and President Biden appeared to wipe a mark from his pantleg and lightly brush his brow before looking straight ahead.
