Nuclear experts caution that Iran may possess a nuclear weapon before the end of the current presidential term.
The FDD is urging President Biden to release all Iranian nuclear intelligence and send troops.
A nonpartisan research group's report reveals that Iran is closer to acquiring nuclear weapons than many people realize.
According to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), Iran could acquire a nuclear weapon prior to the upcoming presidential election, prompting the organization to recommend that U.S. troops be deployed to the region promptly in order to counter this potential outcome.
The FDD released a strategic plan titled "Deterring Iran's Nuclear Ambitions," which includes 24 specific recommendations that the Biden administration should implement to reverse Iran's nuclear capabilities.
According to Orde Kittrie, co-author of the plan, if the Biden-Harris administration does not take strong actions to prevent it, Iran could finish building a crude nuclear bomb before the next US president is sworn in.
To increase domestic and international pressure to prevent Iran from pursuing its nuclear program, the report urged the Biden administration to make public all intelligence evaluations concerning Iran's nuclear capabilities.
The U.S. is prepared to temporarily deploy troops to Iran to prevent a nuclear breakthrough.
While most U.S. officials are focused on monitoring Iran's ability to enrich uranium to 90%, the regime is secretly taking steps toward a nuclear weapon, including measures to construct a nuclear explosive device that would enable them to quickly assemble a bomb.
Kittrie stated that it is making progress in other areas that would make it easier to reach the line faster and more difficult to stop.
On July 19, Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State, stated that it would take approximately one to two weeks to obtain enough weapons-grade uranium to construct one nuclear weapon.
"The acquisition of the world's most powerful weapon by Iran, a vicious and bloodthirsty regime, should make Americans extremely concerned."
According to the report, it may be difficult for western nations to detect when Iran is in its final stages of building a nuclear bomb because much of the activity takes place in secret, underground facilities.
The FDD is urging President Biden to increase joint military exercises with regional partners, lift the US hold on 2,000-pound MK-84 bombs to Israel, and remove any obstacles to provide Israel with planes and munitions, in addition to putting boots on the ground.
The group urged both the Republican and Democratic candidates, as well as Biden, to publicly pledge their support for using military force to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Kittrie stated that Biden's strongest statement on the issue was weaker than Obama's strongest statement on the same topic.
"The administration maintains that a military option is a possibility, but this does not necessarily mean that it will be employed if required. The administration's statements regarding Iran's nuclear weapons acquisition are ambiguous, leaving unclear the specific circumstances under which the undesirable outcome would occur."
The FDD recommended that the U.S. should "dramatically increase" the application of sanctions and collaborate with countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Germany to impose sanctions through the United Nations.
