Newsom links fire response defense to Dem Party fundraising platform through fact-check site.
A website aimed at combating misinformation about the fires urges users to contribute to those affected through ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising platform.
Gov. Gavin Newsom launched a new website to combat "misinformation" about the raging fires in the Los Angeles area, which also links to the Democratic Party fundraising giant ActBlue, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.
Since Tuesday, fires have been burning in the Los Angeles area, causing widespread destruction of thousands of acres and homes, and claiming the lives of more than a dozen people. In response to criticism of his handling of the fires, Governor Gavin Newsom launched a new website over the weekend to combat "misinformation" on California fire prevention and emergency efforts, linking to a website that accepts donations through ActBlue.
"A plethora of false information exists regarding the Southern CA wildfires. A new website has been launched to provide accurate data to the public," Newsom stated on Saturday.
The TRUTH: CA did not reduce our firefighting budget. We have significantly increased the size of our firefighting forces and created the largest aerial firefighting fleet globally.
"- CA has INCREASED forest management ten-fold since we took office.

Early Sunday morning, Planet Chronicle Digital discovered that Californiafirefacts.com lists several "lies" about social media and the media, followed by Newsom's "facts" addressing these claims, and then prompts a donation button at the bottom of the website.
The California Fire Foundation is accepting donations through ActBlue to support firefighters and affected communities.
The California Fire Foundation is a tax-deductible donation that supports firefighters and the communities they serve, including direct financial support to impacted residents.
Clicking the donation button directs users to an ActBlue URL where they can donate between $25 and $1,000, or any amount they choose. The donation page also includes the Newsom's Campaign for Democracy political action committee, which will sign up donors for text updates from the PAC.
In 2023, Newsom's PAC was launched as an effort to boost Democrats in "extremist" GOP-led states. ActBlue, a massive Democratic PAC focused on small dollar donations, has bolstered Democratic elections and efforts to the tune of more than $16 billion since its founding in 2004, according to its website.
The ActBlue URL for fire donations specifies that all contributions will be given "directly" to "assist firefighters and the communities they serve, including direct financial aid to affected residents."
According to Newsom's office, none of the donations made will go to the Democratic governor or his PAC.
Gov. Newsom has raised $450,000 for the Fire Foundation through small dollar contributions during the fires, and his spokesperson, Nathan Click, stated that not a cent of these donations go to him or his PAC. Click thanked the people across the nation who have come together to help Californians in their time of need.
The ActBlue website indicates that donations made through the platform include a 3.95% processing fee, which is then passed on to the groups utilizing the platform. The New York Post reported that ActBlue waived the fees for fire donations, although the fundraising giant did not promptly respond to Fox Digital's request for comment on the reported waived fees.
AB Charities processes contributions made through ActBlue, which includes a 3.95% fee for processing, but this fee does not go towards funding political candidates, as stated by the group.
Elizabeth Warren, a democratic senator from Massachusetts, urged the public to contribute to those affected by the fires through an ActBlue link.
Warren posted on X on Saturday, requesting donations to be split between the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles to support the communities affected by wildfires in L.A. 100% of the donation will go directly to these organizations.
The senator was criticized by the community, who pointed out that the link provided was not for charity but rather a Democrat fundraising platform that charges 3.95% of all transactions. The link is secure.actblue.com/pricing.
On Sunday morning, Warren's office was contacted by Fox Digital, yet no response was received.
The governor's donation link through ActBlue was criticized by conservatives and opponents on social media as "disgraceful."
Over five days, at least 12,300 homes in the Los Angeles area have been destroyed by wildfires, resulting in the deaths of at least 16 people and forcing thousands of others to evacuate. Hollywood stars and residents have criticized Governor Gavin Newsom for his handling of the disaster, particularly the fire hydrants that ran dry during the blaze.
"One resident who confronted Newsom last week inquired about the lack of water in the hydrants, stating, "What are you going to do and is it going to be different next time, and I will fill up the hydrants myself?" according to Fox 11."
Trump, the president-elect, has repeatedly criticized Newsom for the state's devastating fires and urged him to resign.
The president-elect declared on Truth Social that one of the most beautiful parts of the United States is burning down to the ground. He added that Gavin Newscum should resign and that it is all his fault.
During the week, Trump attributed the LA County fires to Newsom and his environmental policies.
On Wednesday, Trump posted on Truth Social that Governor Gavin Newsom rejected the water restoration declaration, which would have enabled millions of gallons of water from excess rain and snowmelt from the North to flow daily into California's burning areas.
"The governor, who failed to protect an insignificant fish called a smelt by reducing its water supply, is now responsible for the current water crisis in California. This incompetence has led to a lack of water for fire hydrants and firefighting planes, resulting in a catastrophic situation. I demand that the governor take immediate action to allow clean, fresh water to flow into California. The people of California are suffering due to this negligence, and it is time for action."
Trump, who will be inaugurated as the nation's 47th president on Jan. 20, received an invitation from Newsom to visit the scene of the fires over the weekend.
We must not politicize human tragedy or spread disinformation from the sidelines. Hundreds of thousands of Americans, displaced and fearful, deserve our collective efforts to ensure a fast recovery and rebuild.
"With respect and an open hand," he wrote.
