'New Era of Prosperity': GOP Lawmakers Elated as Trump Inaugurated with Fresh Agenda
On Monday, Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president.
Republican legislators are elated following President Trump's inauguration for a second term and his pledge to implement significant policy shifts in the US.
"House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, R-Md., stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that President Trump's speech marked the start of a new era for America, with promises to reduce costs, secure the southern border, remove illegal immigrants, restore free speech, and strengthen American energy independence."
GOP leaders pledged to swiftly implement Trump's policies, with the president aiming for a productive first 100 days, starting with a series of executive orders.
"Under President Trump's leadership, America will experience a new Golden Age, according to House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn. House Republicans are fully committed to realizing Trump's America First vision and are ready to begin on day one."
Steve Scalise, the House Majority Leader from Louisiana, praised Trump's speech as a powerful statement of his vision for a safe, strong, free, and prosperous America.
Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., compared Trump's inauguration to Reagan's in 1985, both of which were held indoors.
President Trump's inauguration signifies the start of a new era in America, as he will lead the country to a brighter future, just like Reagan did during his presidency.
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, echoed Trump's call for immediate legislative action, stating, "Today is a day for celebration, but our work begins immediately. There is no room for excuses. Congress must work with the president to deliver fully, not partially. I stand ready and resolved."
Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa, urged Congress to collaborate with Trump to enact the Farm Bill, extend the Trump Tax Cuts, secure the border, abolish electric vehicle mandates, bolster small businesses, and reduce expenses for families and farmers.
During his inaugural speech in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, Trump also mentioned several of those goals.
Trump declared a national energy emergency and announced plans to drill for oil to combat record inflation and rapidly lower costs and prices. The inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating energy prices.
"By taking action today, we will put an end to the Green New Deal and repeal the electric vehicle mandate, preserving our auto industry and fulfilling my promise to our American autoworkers."
He also pledged to intensify efforts to combat crime at the border and impose high tariffs on foreign countries to reduce the budget deficit.
In the Capitol's Emancipation Hall, Trump delivered additional comments for approximately 30 minutes.
Trump criticized Biden for issuing pardons to members of the Jan. 6 committee and others, including retired Gen. Milley, in his second speech.
Trump joked that he believed his speech was better than the one he gave earlier, and that they would quickly turn the country around.
