New Congress Agenda Revealed by Incoming House Republican After Defeating Dem Incumbent
In November, Democrat Rep Yadira Caraveo was defeated by Rep-elect Gabe Evans.
An incoming House Republican who defeated a Democrat in Colorado discusses his expectations for Republicans in Congress during the next session.
Gabe Evans, who won the election for Colorado's 8th Congressional District, stated that voters in his district were aware of the rising crime issue.
"I didn't need to convince people of the problem; I just had to demonstrate it. As a Colorado native, I have 12 years of experience in the U.S. Army and the Colorado Army National Guard, including a combat deployment overseas, and have spent the past 10 years in law enforcement. I am a married father of two boys and a state representative. I am confident in my ability to solve these problems and provide practical solutions that will improve the lives of everyone involved."
At the southern border, the crisis has caused frustration among Evans' 40% Hispanic district.
Evans stated that his family, including his first-generation American mother and immigrant abuelito from Chihuahua, Mexico, experiences a significant amount of frustration.
"My uncle reminds me constantly that he earned his citizenship with two Purple Hearts in World War Two, and that for many Hispanics, the path to citizenship is a difficult one, with many immigrants arriving in the country without proper documentation or legal status."
In January, when Republicans hold both chambers and the White House, Evans will enter Congress. Although they will have a slim majority in the House of Representatives, Evans is confident that Republicans will unite to advance Trump's agenda, as he stated in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital.
Evans stated that he believes the next two years will be significantly different from the previous two due to the unified government, and that they will all be on the same page.
"It is now time for the Republicans, who control the House, Senate, and presidency, to fulfill their campaign promises, including ensuring safe and secure communities, securing borders, improving America's global standing, and projecting calm, steady leadership in the international community. It is our responsibility to deliver on these promises."
"I pledged to my district to prioritize public safety. I will remain committed to upholding our state and local law enforcement. To achieve this, I will ensure that they have the necessary resources to keep our communities safe. This starts with eliminating sanctuary state policies that disregard federal law and hinder law enforcement's ability to deport violent criminals in Colorado. These policies, which are supported by the left's soft-on-crime and open-border ideologies, have allowed dangerous gangbangers, cartel members, and other criminals to take advantage of the system and threaten our communities."
Evans stated that Republicans will focus on revitalizing the economy by reducing regulations, streamlining processes, and creating good-paying jobs to ensure affordability.
Trump's victory in November indicates that Republicans have a mandate in the upcoming Congress, according to Evans.
""The American people have given the Republican Party a unified government for the next two years, indicating their desire for change. They know their lives are not improving and are ready to go a different direction. It is now up to us to work hard for all Americans, regardless of whether they voted for us or not," Evans said."
