Nearly 50,000 criminal arrests result from red state's illegal immigration crackdown.
Gov Greg Abbott's spokesperson states that Texas has maintained its stance against the Biden-Harris border crisis for the past four years.
Nearly 90% reduction in illegal crossings and over 50,000 criminal arrests have been achieved in Texas through the state's efforts to combat illegal immigration and Tren de Aragua (TdA) migrant gang activity, as stated by Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.
The Texas-led campaign "Operation Lonestar," launched in March 2021 and involving over a dozen other Republican states, has resulted in 530,400 illegal immigrant apprehensions, 49,900 criminal arrests, and over 42,900 felony charges.
Despite President Biden halting border wall construction early in his administration, Texas continued to build its own border wall at strategic points, making it the first state to do so.
""We will not permit the Tren de Aragua gang to establish a presence in Texas and threaten the safety and security of our citizens," Abbott stated on X."
Over 620 million lethal doses of fentanyl were seized by Texas law enforcement during Operation Lonestar, which is enough to kill every man, woman, and child in the United States, Mexico, and Canada combined, according to the governor's office.
The office designated TdA, a violent crime group that has been spreading across the country, as a foreign terrorist organization and established a strike team to identify and apprehend its members.
On New Year's Eve, four members of the TdA gang were arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers while crossing the border. One of them was suspected to be a high-ranking member of the gang.
The statement mentioned that Texas has shipped a total of 119,400 migrants to cities with sanctuary policies, including Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, and Los Angeles.
According to Andrew Mahaleris, a spokesperson for Abbott, Operation Lone Star has resulted in Texas spending over $11 billion on securing the border, which includes deploying thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and DPS troopers, transporting migrants to sanctuary cities, erecting strategic barriers, combating violent gangs such as TdA, and constructing new border walls.
""Texas has decreased illegal crossings into the state by 87% due to efforts, and Governor Abbott plans to continue working closely with President Trump and his incoming administration to protect the state and nation from the Biden-Harris border crisis," said Mahaleris."
