The Democratic Party is 'in trouble', according to Romney.
According to outgoing Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, Vice President-elect JD Vance is likely to be the GOP's 2028 presidential nominee due to his intelligence and eloquence.
Donald Trump, the president-elect, selected Vance as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election, and the two defeated the Democratic ticket, which included Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
During an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Romney stated that the GOP has transformed into the party representing the working-class and middle-class voter, and Trump deserves recognition for this shift.
The senator claimed that the Democratic Party is in trouble due to movements to defund the police and allow biological males in female sports, which led to middle class flight.
He remarked that the Democratic Party has lost its base as union workers have left and voted for the GOP. Additionally, he noted that the party is no longer viewed as representing the interests of the wealthy but rather college professors and woke scolds.
During an interview with Romney, Tapper stated that Trump intends to attack his political opponents and inquired if Romney is concerned about his family and himself being targeted for revenge.
Romney stated that he believes Trump will concentrate on the future and is not concerned.
Since 2019, Romney has been serving as a senator, but he has decided not to run for another term.
He was the GOP's 2012 presidential nominee, but lost the election to President Barack Obama.
Romney also previously served as governor of Massachusetts.
