Michigan's Muslim voters are the target of Harris' final plea.
The 'Abandon Biden' and 'Abandon Harris' movements have hindered the success of the Democratic ticket.
In a last-minute plea to Muslim voters in Michigan, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the ongoing anger of this group towards the Biden administration's management of the Gaza conflict.
"Harris stated at a rally in Michigan on Sunday that this year has been challenging due to the immense death and devastation in Gaza, as well as the civilian casualties and displacement in Lebanon. As president, he pledged to take all necessary actions to put an end to the war in Gaza, bring back the hostages, alleviate the suffering in Gaza, guarantee Israel's security, and enable the Palestinian people to achieve their right to dignity, freedom, safety, and self-determination."
Over a week after several Muslim leaders from Michigan endorsed Trump at a rally in Novi, Michigan, Trump boasted about their support.
Four Muslim leaders, including Imam Belal Alzuhairi and Dearborn Heights Mayor Bill Bazzi, publicly endorsed Trump on stage, highlighting his ability to prevent international conflicts.
"We, as Muslims, support President Trump because he promises peace instead of war, as Alzuhairi stated in his remarks. He believes that the world needs to stop the bloodshed and that Trump can make that happen. Alzuhairi also thinks that God saved Trump's life twice for a specific purpose."
Harris stated during her rally on Sunday that she was joined by leaders of the Arab American community, even though they did not appear on stage with her and it is unclear which leaders she was referring to.
The rally occurred at Michigan State University in East Lansing, just over 90 miles from Dearborn, a city with the highest per capita Muslim population in the country, where her campaign has faced opposition.
The Harris campaign declined to comment on a Planet Chronicle Digital request.
In 2024, a significant portion of Michigan's Muslim population, which has traditionally voted Democrat, has been resisting the party's presidential candidates. During the state's primary campaign, a movement to "Abandon Biden" over his handling of the conflict in Gaza resulted in over 100,000 Michigan residents voting "uncommitted" instead of supporting his re-election bid.
The movement to end ongoing wars overseas has influenced Harris' campaign, which Trump has attempted to exploit while promoting his message of peace and stability globally.
That message has seemingly appealed to some Michigan Muslim leaders.
Bazzi stated in Novi that we will put an end to wars, secure the United States, and ensure global safety.
"These are great people," Trump said after Bazzi's speech. "What a nice endorsement."
