Liz Cheney's rifle comments about Trump are deemed 'disqualifying' by Harris.
On Thursday, Trump labeled Cheney a "war hawk," implying that she wouldn't want to be in the midst of a war with guns aimed at her.
On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris deemed former President Trump's comments about Liz Cheney with rifles as "disqualifying," arguing that he was escalating his "violent rhetoric."
""Donald Trump has increased his violent rhetoric about political opponents and suggested rifles should be trained on former Rep. Liz Cheney, which is disqualifying for anyone who wants to be President of the United States," Harris stated at a press conference after arriving in Wisconsin on Air Force Two."
Cheney, who has endorsed Harris and has been campaigning with her, was called a "true patriot who has shown extraordinary courage in putting country above party" by her. Trump, on the other hand, is increasingly viewing his political opponents as enemies, is permanently seeking revenge, and is becoming increasingly unstable and unhinged.
In an event in Arizona on Thursday, Trump referred to Cheney as a "radical war hawk" and said, "Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face. They're all war hawks when they're sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, ‘Oh, gee, well, let's send 10,000 troops into the mouths of the enemies,’ but she’s a stupid person and I used to have meetings with a lot of people and she always wanted to go to war with people."
Immediately after Trump made his comments, the left responded with criticism, and some online clips only showed a partial context of what he said.
Harris stated that she hadn't spoken to Cheney since Trump's comment, but she knew Cheney was strong, brave, and a true patriot, given the current political climate where Trump's rhetoric was violent and vengeful.
It's crucial to ensure that "we are opposing and protesting against political brutality."
Trump made a statement on Truth Social about Liz Cheney, saying that she is a "War Hawk" and a "dumb one" who lacks the courage to fight. He also criticized her father for causing death and getting rich from it.
Cheney posted a video of Trump's comments about her on X, excluding the part where he accused her and others of being war hawks. In the caption, she wrote, "This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot trust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant."
She included the hastages "#Womenwillnotbesilenced" and "VoteKamala."
Democrats have been accused by Republicans of increasing the likelihood of violence against Trump through their rhetoric labeling him as a "fascist" and a "threat to democracy."
In July, Trump was shot by a would-be assassin and later targeted by another suspect near his home in Florida.
