Lara Trump announces she is stepping down as RNC co-chair while speculation circulates about her potential candidacy for the Florida Senate seat.
Lara Trump is reportedly mulling over several possible choices as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House.
Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), announced that she would be stepping down from her position. She stated that during her tenure, the RNC had three primary objectives, which had all been achieved.
In March 2024, she began her journey as co-chair of the RNC, but there have been rumors that she is considering her future as President-elect Donald Trump's father-in-law takes over the White House again.
""After that major victory, I feel like my work is finished," she remarked."
In March, Trump became co-chair and played a crucial role in the Republicans regaining control of the Senate while maintaining a slim House majority.
There are rumors that she could potentially replace Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as Trump has indicated that she may be chosen to be the next Secretary of State.
Last month, she expressed her desire to serve the people of Florida and consider filling the seat if asked, in an interview with Planet Chronicle' Sean Hannity.
On Sunday, Trump spoke with Howard Kurtz about the honor of being considered.
"If given the chance, it would be an honor for me to fully engage in politics and understand the needs of the American people, as I have been a resident of Florida for over three years."
Elon Musk's mother, Maye Musk, is among those advocating for her to succeed Marco Rubio.
"The Senate is an old man's club. We desperately need a smart, young, outspoken woman who will expose their secrets," she wrote on X. Lara Trump is 42.
Elon Musk concurred with his mother's feelings when he replied to her X post, stating, "Lara Trump is truly exceptional."
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., stated on "Hannity" that he would be extremely thrilled and that Republicans could not possibly perform better than Lara Trump.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will ultimately decide on Rubio's replacement, who is being considered to replace Pete Hegseth.
Michael Whatley will remain RNC chairman.
