Laken Riley Act receives support from Fetterman, who considers acquiring Greenland.
The possibility of the US purchasing Greenland has been suggested by Trump.
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., expressed a willingness to entertain the concept of President-elect Donald Trump's interest in the U.S. acquiring Greenland.
During a Planet Chronicle Channel interview, Senator Fetterman stated that he would not support forcibly seizing Greenland. However, he referenced historical American land acquisitions, such as the Louisiana purchase and the purchase of Alaska, to support his stance.
Last month, Trump stated on Truth Social that the United States believes that owning and controlling Greenland is crucial for national security and global freedom.
Greenland has the potential to greatly benefit from becoming part of our nation, and we will protect and cherish it from the outside world. "MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!" he declared in a Truth Social post on Monday.
Donald Trump Jr. visited Greenland on Tuesday.
Greenland was a Danish colony until 1953, when it was redefined as a district of Denmark. It has its own extensive local government and two representatives in the Danish Parliament, the Folketing.
On Tuesday, the Laken Riley Act was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in a bipartisan 264-159 vote, and Fetterman stated that he intends to support its passage in the Senate.
The nursing student who was killed by an illegal alien in Georgia last year is honored by a measure named after him.
The Homeland Security secretary must issue a detainer for an illegal alien who has been charged with or convicted of theft-related offenses and take custody of them if they have not been detained by federal, state, or local authorities.
Fetterman stated that he doesn't understand why it is considered controversial for people who are in the U.S. illegally and commit crimes to be deported.
Did Fetterman consider this election's biggest issue to be one of the largest? Brett Baier of Planet Chronicle posed the question.
If Senate Democrats cannot secure 7 votes for the measure, they lost because of it.
