On Tuesday, Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso won his Republican primary, securing his bid for a third term in November.
Reid Rasner, a financial adviser, was defeated by Barrasso, who is currently the chair of the Senate Republican Conference, the third-ranking position among Senate Republicans, and a ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
Wyoming's energy industry, southern border security, and imposing congressional term limits were the main focuses of Rasner's campaign.
Barrasso seeks to defend his seat against Democrat Scott Morrow of Laramie.
An orthopedic surgeon and former state lawmaker from Casper, Barrasso has gained prominence in the Senate and frequently criticizes the Biden administration's immigration policies.
Recently, Barrasso criticized the Secret Service following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Despite the gunman being identified as suspicious one hour before the shooting, his office stated that "no one has taken responsibility."
In January, Barrasso's wife lost her battle with brain cancer.
"Bobbi, a devoted wife, mother, leader, and fierce advocate for Wyoming, bravely battled cancer and is now at peace with the Lord. We deeply miss her and are grateful for the prayers and support of our community as we remember her and grieve together."
