In a speech to his party, President Biden stated that while he enjoys his role in the White House, his love for his country is even stronger.

Biden passed on the leadership of the party to Harris in a major speech, highlighting their administration's achievements in the past three and a half years.

At the packed United Arena, where the Democratic National Convention was held, the president stated, "I gave my all to you, America," as the crowd of party officials, delegates, activists, and supporters repeatedly applauded and chanted "thank you, Joe."

Biden stated that Kamala was the first decision he made before becoming the nominee and it was the best decision he made throughout his career.

The president emphasized that she is tough, experienced, and has enormous integrity, and her story embodies the best American story.

Are you ready to vote for freedom, democracy, and America? Are you ready to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as President and Vice President of the United States?

Biden frequently criticized former President Trump and the dangers he claimed the Republican presidential candidate posed to American democracy and global alliances. Additionally, he promised to be the best volunteer that Vice President Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, had ever seen.

The four couples, including Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz, stood together at the podium after Biden's speech, demonstrating unity within the party.

Four weeks and one day after his announcement that he was ending his own White House bid and endorsing his vice president to replace him on the party's 2024 ticket in the election showdown against former President Trump, the president delivered his speech.

The poor showing of Biden against Trump in their June debate raised doubts about his ability to handle another term as president and prompted many in his party to urge him to abandon his 2024 campaign.

After the Republican National Convention, Biden eventually announced the suspension of his re-election campaign three days later, with Trump and Vance as the solidified GOP ticket.

Biden addressed a crowd with numerous politicians who publicly or privately urged him to withdraw from the presidential race as his poll numbers declined after the debate with Trump.

With Biden's departure, Harris has experienced a surge of energy, resulting in increased polling and fundraising as the race against Trump becomes a close call.

Trump has increasingly accused the Democrats of orchestrating a "vicious COUP" against Biden as Harris's popularity has grown.

Former President Biden claimed Monday on social media that he was told, 'Sorry Joe, you're losing to Trump, BIG, and you can't beat him - You're Fired.'

In his speech, Biden sought to dispel any belief that he was upset about altering course and abandoning his pursuit of a second term in the presidency.

"It has been an honor for me to serve as your president, and while I enjoy my job, my love for my country is even greater. Despite the rumors that I am angry at those who suggested I resign, I want to clarify that this is not the case."

The speech, given with five months remaining in his presidency, had a swan song feel as he highlighted his administration's achievements.

Biden highlighted his remaining tasks, such as aiding Ukraine in its conflict with Russia and negotiating a cease-fire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas to end the ongoing war in Gaza.

Anti-Israeli protesters marched outside the security zone surrounding the arena, while a small group of delegates protesting Biden's handling of the war briefly held up a banner inside the United Center. However, delegates quickly blocked them with "We Love Joe" signs and drowned them out.

At one point, Biden acknowledged that the protesters had a valid concern with the increasing number of deaths.

Before Biden spoke at the convention podium, Hillary Clinton, the Democrats' 2016 presidential nominee, was a former Secretary of State, senator, and first lady.

In her speech, Clinton criticized Trump, commended Biden, and stated that Harris possesses the "character, experience, and vision to guide us into the future."

The transfer of power from the old guard to a younger generation was symbolized by the speeches of Clinton and Biden, the previous standard-bearers of the Democrats.

Earlier in the evening, Harris unexpectedly praised her boss from the podium.

"Let's begin by honoring our exceptional president," she stressed. "Joe, thank you for your remarkable leadership, for your lifelong dedication to our country, and for all the great things you will continue to accomplish. We are eternally grateful to you."
