JD Vance responds fiercely to Harris' criticism of Trump over Arlington National Cemetery incident.
In response, Vance advised Harris to "stay away from social media."
Sen. JD Vance criticized Vice President Kamala Harris after she criticized former President Trump following an incident with a cemetery official.
On Monday, an Arlington National Cemetery official was "unexpectedly removed" from a wreath-laying ceremony event honoring service members killed by ISIS-K terrorists on Aug. 26, 2021, during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The U.S. Army stated that the employee ensured that Trump's team was informed of federal laws, Army regulations, and DoD policies that prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. Trump asserted that he took photographs with families of service members who had requested them.
"During a speech in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Trump stated that President Biden was incompetent and responsible for the deaths of young people. He also accused Biden of using their graves for public relations purposes, which he denied."
On Saturday afternoon, Harris accused Trump's team of showing a lack of respect towards service members.
As Vice President, I have visited Arlington National Cemetery multiple times. This location is somber and serves as a site for us to pay tribute to the American soldiers who have given their lives in defense of our country. It is not a political venue.
"Despite the disrespect to sacred ground, Donald Trump's team filmed a video at a cemetery, resulting in an altercation with staff," Harris stated. "It is important to remember that the former president's actions were driven by a political stunt."
Trump was accused by Harris of disparaging Medal of Honor recipients and calling fallen service members "suckers" and "losers."
Harris stated that he would never politicize service members, adding that this individual can only understand self-service.
JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, swiftly responded to Harris' statement by suggesting she stay away from social media.
"Vance wrote on X: "President Trump was invited by families who lost loved ones due to your incompetence. Instead of being on social media, why don't you investigate the unnecessary deaths?""
During the Trump administration, Karoline Leavitt, who served as an assistant press secretary, also criticized Harris on social media.
Kamala Harris boasted about being the last person in the room with Joe Biden when they finalized their disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal plan," Leavitt wrote. "Kamala's foolishness resulted in one of the most humiliating moments in American history and the tragic deaths of 13 valiant US soldiers.
"Kamala has never spoken their names and has never contacted their families, which is enough reason to not vote for her. Kamala has already shown that she would be an ineffective Commander in Chief."
