James Biden is being investigated by the DOJ for making false statements during the impeachment inquiry.
Last year, Attorney General Garland was referred James Biden by House Republicans for prosecution.
President-elect Trump's Justice Department is being requested by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer to investigate and prosecute President Biden's brother, James Biden, for allegedly making false statements to Congress.
Comer, R-Ky., wrote a letter to Trump's attorney general nominee, Bondi, urging the DOJ to investigate James Biden for lying to Congress to protect his brother, Biden.
In June, the House Republicans submitted criminal referrals to the Justice Department for James and Hunter Biden, accusing them of lying to Congress about the impeachment investigation of President Biden.
At the time, Comer stated that the alleged false statements suggested that President Biden was involved in his family's influence-peddling schemes and that they were a deliberate attempt to protect him from impeachment proceedings.
The impeachment inquiry into President Biden was led by Comer, Jordan, and Smith, who found that Biden engaged in "impeachable conduct," "abused his office," and "defrauded the United States to enrich his family."
In his letter to Bondi this week, Comer highlighted Biden's "complete and unreserved pardon" for his son, Hunter Biden.
"President Biden's latest plan to cover up his family's corruption solidifies his legacy as the most corrupt political family to hold the presidency in American history, according to Comer. However, it seems incomplete as Biden has shown the American people that his son is beyond accountability in a court of law for his wrongdoings."
James Biden, the President's younger brother, was identified by the House Committees on Oversight, the Judiciary, and Ways and Means as the main accomplice in Hunter Biden's influence peddling schemes, aside from Joe Biden himself. According to Comer, he wanted to remind incoming Department of Justice leadership of this fact and emphasize that James Biden deserved prosecution under federal law.
Bondi was reminded by Comer that he and House Republicans had referred James Biden to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution due to his "materially false statements to the Oversight and Judiciary Committees."
""James Biden's denial of Joe Biden's meeting with James Biden, Hunter Biden, and Hunter Biden's business associate for a Chinese transaction, despite evidence being presented and multiple opportunities to correct his statement, seems to be a clumsy attempt to shield Joe Biden from the truth that Joe Biden has indeed met with his family's business associates," Comer wrote."
In June, Comer and House Republicans stated that James Biden had unequivocally confirmed during a transcribed interview that Joe Biden had not met with Tony Bobulinski, a business associate of James and Hunter Biden, in 2017 while pursuing a deal with a Chinese entity, CEFC China Energy.
"According to Comer, Jordan, and Smith, James Biden denied attending a meeting with Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Tony Bobulinski on May 2, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. However, this statement was contradicted not only by Mr. Bobulinski but also by Hunter Biden."
Bobulinski's text messages revealed the events leading up to and following his meeting with Joe Biden on May 2, 2017.
In his letter to Bondi, Comer accused President Biden of impeding the committee's impeachment investigation and stated that this behavior was a form of "impeachable conduct."
Comer stated that President Biden's legacy is marked by leading the most dishonest and corrupt administration in American history.
Biden granted his son a "Full and Unconditional Pardon" for nearly 11 years of conduct, including conduct related to both convictions obtained by Special Counsel David Weiss, last month.
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to three felony firearm offenses and federal tax crimes before his trial.
Last week, Weiss released his highly anticipated report on his yearslong investigation into Hunter Biden and criticized Biden for unfairly maligning Justice Department public servants and casting doubt on the U.S. justice system with false claims that his probe was political.
"President Biden lied about not pardoning his son, and now falsely claims that Hunter was targeted solely because he is his son, which is incorrect, Comer wrote to Bondi."
President Biden's accusations of political persecution and the weaponization of prosecution against Hunter Biden are unfounded, but they do not apply to his brother James Biden, who has lied to Congress and has not been held accountable.
""I urge the Department to hold James Biden accountable for lying to Congress to protect his brother, the soon-to-be-former President Biden, as no one should be above the law, regardless of their last name," Comer concluded."
