In a surprising virtual appearance at the DNC, Harris energizes the crowd while campaigning in a crucial swing state.
At a rally in Milwaukee, Harris addresses the Democrats during their national convention in Chicago.
On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz traveled to battleground Wisconsin for the Democrats' convention.
In a packed Fiserv Forum, Harris emphasized her fight against former President Trump, stating that "this is not 2016 or 2020" and that "the stakes are higher."
The rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin's largest city and a blue bastion in a crucial purple state, was broadcast live to the United Center in Chicago, site of the four-night Democratic National Convention.
The big screens inside the arena in Milwaukee showed portions of the ceremonial nomination roll call from the Chicago convention to the crowd of over 15,000 Democratic activists and supporters.
After the roll call at the Democratic National Convention, Coach Walz and I were nominated as the next vice president and President of the United States of America, respectively, by Harris, who received sustained cheers as she announced the nomination.
The vice president has experienced a surge in energy since being chosen as the Democrats' 2024 presidential candidate, with a rise in polling and fundraising as the race against Trump becomes a close call.
In November's presidential election, the outcome will likely be determined by one of the seven swing states, including Wisconsin. Prior to Harris' arrival, Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, was campaigning in the southeastern corner of the state.
""We have 77 days until the election in Wisconsin, and it's going to be a tight race until the very end. We have some hard work ahead of us, but we like hard work," Harris emphasized."
Trump has been repeatedly criticized by Harris, particularly regarding the contentious issue of abortion, which has been a driving force for Democrats since the overturning of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision two years ago, which legalized abortion.
Yesterday, when asked about regrets regarding ending Roe v Wade, Donald Trump responded without hesitation, saying he had no regrets. Harris pointed to an interview by the former president.
Ahead of Harris' appearance, Walz criticized Trump in a lively speech, reflecting on the GOP convention and the former president's acceptance speech from last month.
""Donald Trump's 92-minute ranting and raving insanity left us feeling good, but now we know that a lot can change in just four weeks," Walz said."
Walz criticized the GOP ticket by stating that "if you run a campaign based on fear like them, you'll encounter difficulties when you face a campaign that's built on happiness."
The Trump campaign accused Walz of being untrustworthy due to his energetic stage presence, stating in a social media post, "You cannot trust a man who gesticulates this wildly. Freak!"
During her speech, Harris repeated her commitment to reducing inflation, a persistent issue for Americans under Biden's leadership.
The vice president pledged to reduce the cost of groceries when he becomes president, stating that he believes in a future where living expenses are lower.
The Trump campaign highlighted the clip and posed the question, "What prevented her from doing that during her 3.5 years in the White House?"
The rally by Harris and Walz took place the night after the vice president made history at the United Center by praising Biden during a political convention speech.
A presidential nominee unexpectedly spoke from the podium before their formal acceptance speech, which usually takes place on the last night of a convention.
Biden's speech at the convention, which concluded Monday night's session, occurred four weeks and one day after his announcement that he was ending his own presidential campaign and endorsing his vice president to succeed him.
In Milwaukee, Harris praised her boss, saying, "He was amazing last night. We are all grateful for his lifetime of service to our country. Thank you, Joe."
Joe was thanked repeatedly in the arena due to her comments.
