At a campaign event in Pennsylvania on Saturday, President Biden criticized former President Trump for being anti-labor and potentially reversing some of the unions' hard-won victories if he were reelected.
During a speech in Pittsburgh, Biden frequently referred to Trump as a "loser" who disregards the well-being of union workers and would willingly eliminate benefits such as healthcare and pension plans if he were reelected president.
"Biden stated to the audience that Trump is a losing candidate and a losing individual."
""But I tell you what, [Trump] is about making sure you push people down. He thinks the way you get ahead is to push people down," Biden said, adding that he had never been as direct before."
In Philadelphia, union workers have traditionally supported Democratic candidates. However, labor politics have shifted in recent years, with many workers in Rust Belt states now favoring Trump due to his accessible rhetoric and appeal to working-class voters.
In 2024, some longtime unions have decided not to endorse a presidential candidate due to the ideological divisions within their membership.
Despite some people's reservations about Harris's campaign, others feel that she hasn't done enough to earn their vote since joining the presidential race.
Biden's speech on Saturday aimed to address the issue of healthcare coverage for union employees, despite his main focus being on criticizing the former president, who has made 51 attempts to eliminate it.
We don't want Trump to win again and undo all our progress," Biden said. "Can anyone here tell me how many of you have pensions? How many of your families have pensions?
Trump, he said, "opposes it."
Elon Musk, a Tesla founder and Trump ally, was indirectly criticized by an unnamed "illegal worker" who used his funds and public persona to support the former president.
Biden revealed that the richest man in the world, who is now Trump's ally, was an undocumented worker in the US, without naming Musk specifically.
The Biden administration did not promptly provide a response to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for further information regarding the president's statement.
To date, Musk has given over $118 million to a super PAC backing Trump's reelection, making him one of Trump's most prominent supporters.
In his final two months as a lame-duck candidate, Biden delivered a speech with unsparing criticism.
The president's voice grew louder and stronger as he continued his speech, possibly due to the knowledge he gained.
Biden urged the crowd to vote in the Nov. 5 election, stating that there is still much work to be done and Kamala will ensure it gets done.
