In a small town in northern Maryland, where I reside 1,800 miles from the southern border, a man who was wanted for murder in El Salvador attacked my daughter on a peaceful walking trail during the day. This tragic event occurred in 2023, as written by Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin.
Rachel Morin, a mother of five, was killed by an illegal immigrant named Victor Martinez Hernandez, 23, who was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of rape, and one count each of sex offense and kidnapping following her death.
Patty wrote in her planned testimony, "We felt relieved when the suspect was finally caught. However, our relief quickly turned to horror and outrage when we discovered that the suspect was an illegal immigrant. This man, who had been wanted for killing a woman in his home country, had walked into ours."

Patty will be one of five witnesses at the hearing.
She implored the officials to listen to her and other families across America who were calling out for help. They had taken an oath to serve the nation and its citizens, and it was their duty to protect Americans by securing the borders.
As both parties prepare for the mass deportations of illegal immigrants, Patty Morin's testimony will be heard, while President-elect Donald Trump has promised to further fortify the southern border and continue building his wall.
