On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee received testimony about the negative effects of "soft on crime" policies on everyday Americans, including violent crimes and the ongoing fentanyl epidemic.

Amanda Kiefer, a victim of an attack by an illegal immigrant in San Francisco, told Congress that politicians and journalists often repeat the statistic that immigrants commit less crime than Americans.

"Even if not manipulated, I believe that kind of information is irrelevant," Kiefer stated. "If we allow any more criminals to enter, that's one too many. We already have enough criminals in this country, and we do little to prevent them from committing more crimes."

In 2008, Kiefer was with friends when Alexander Izaguirre stole her purse and tried to run her down in an SUV, resulting in a fractured skull.

Izaguirre, who had been arrested for drug charges and was in the country illegally, was released from jail due to a program launched by then-District Attorney Kamala Harris that allowed nonviolent offenders to avoid jail by entering job training and having their records expunged.

On Wednesday, Kiefer testified at the "The Consequences of Soft-On-Crime Policies" hearing, criticizing the programs that release criminals like Izaguirre back into society. He accused politicians of being committed to a Marxist principle that criminals are merely victims of capitalism, and that providing jobs or handouts would eliminate their tendency towards violent crime.

""No-bail laws, later sentencing, and identity politics-driven leniency allow violent individuals to harm others without fear of consequences," Kiefer stated."

"In the summer of 2020, our vice president advocated for defunding the police and supporting a bail fund, which resulted in the release of violent repeat offenders who later committed heinous crimes."

Kiefer argued that many victims of violent crimes could have been saved, pointing out the issue of "the backlog of sexual assault kits" and "our porous border."

"Kiefer stated, "It's a gut-wrenching injustice. It's heartbreaking, and Americans must put an end to it. No one is taking responsibility for failing to safeguard the American public.""

Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., the committee's ranking member, contended that "it is crucial to listen to crime victims and other affected individuals," but asserted that the Wednesday hearing's purpose was not to conceal its true aim, which was to criticize the growing support for Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz.

Kiefer's suffering was not used by Nadler to indict other policies and programs.

"No crime prevention or reform strategy is flawless, and there will always be individuals who evade capture and continue to commit crimes, as demonstrated by the individual who stole Ms. Kiefer's purse in 2008 while in the 'Back on Track' program in San Francisco."

Rep Andy Biggs

According to Nadler, District Attorney Harris promptly shut down a loophole in the program that mistakenly admitted undocumented immigrants who were not qualified for jobs in the US.

On Tuesday, Nadler faced criticism for closing his eyes and lowering his head during congressional testimony on migrant crime's effects on victims' families, suggesting that leading Democrats are not taking the issue seriously and disrespecting those in mourning.

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., stated that if Democrats achieve their policy objectives, the left-leaning criminal justice policies of Manhattan, Chicago, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and California will spread across the country and have a significant impact on federal criminal code enforcement.

Biggs stated that the hearings should serve as a reminder to Americans to demand that their leaders abandon policies that have made their communities less safe, and that Congress must adhere to federal law. The violent crime rate in Minnesota remains high due to the lasting effects of the summer 2020 riots and the prosecution's failure to hold criminals accountable.
