How could this have happened? Depressed media react to Trump victory.

Howard Kurtz believes that the media needs to reflect on its actions, but he doubts that it will happen.

As Donald Trump won state after state, many journalists were clinging to fading hopes that Kamala Harris could pull out a victory.

Early this morning, it became apparent that the outcome they most feared had come to pass, and it wasn't as close as they thought.

When Trump won Wisconsin, the Blue Wall collapsed, ending the vice president's chances and prompting some of her allies in the media to blame racism and sexism. As of now, he has almost won all the battleground states.

Despite being the incumbent in a change election, Harris received overwhelmingly favorable media coverage and was able to do her best in a shortened campaign, while her opponent faced constant attacks.

The political experts predicted that Trump, who became the second president to win back the White House after losing it, would use a dark path with harsh language, personal attacks, and Arnold Palmer-style diversions. They believed that this approach would only appeal to his MAGA supporters and would clash with Harris' message of unity and lifting up the middle class.

Trump stated this morning in West Palm Beach that we will aid our nation in recovering, in stark contrast to his prior demeanor.

If Trump wins the 2024 election, it could be America's last election, according to left-leaning commentators. However, the outcome, which saw Republicans take control of the Senate, was a slap in the face.

Look at these New York Times news headlines:

"America Hires a Strongman."

"From Pariah to President-Elect: Trump's Journey to Regain Power."

"The world braces for another four years of unpredictability with Trump's impending return."

And the editorial page: "America Makes a Perilous Choice."

Last night, when Trump was leading in the Electoral College count by 153 to 27, MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace stated that it could be a good night for Kamala Harris.

This morning, there was a subdued tone on the network. On "Morning Joe," Joe Scarborough stated: "America is far more to the right than ever before, even going back to the Reagan years. And Donald Trump won in a dominating fashion."

Would there be violence if Trump lost the election and whether he would accept the outcome was a topic of much discussion.

We'll soon determine if the prediction that a second Trump term would have no safeguards and destroy democracy was an overly dramatic outlook.

After the Democratic Party suffered a significant loss, liberal commentators attempted to analyze the reasons behind the defeat. One pundit on CNN criticized Trump for lacking a plan, while another questioned why Harris failed to connect with Black men and Latinos.

Despite his divisive style, many people had positive memories of Trump's previous term and its strong economy. Meanwhile, Harris faced the unpopularity of Joe Biden, who should have stepped aside sooner.

The theme of the television panel today: How could this have happened?

Those who criticized Trump for not accepting his defeat in 2020, despite his continued contestation, must now accept that loving one's country is not limited to winning.

Despite winning the debate and avoiding the press for a month, Harris struggled to provide fresh ideas in the final weeks and frequently resorted to using talking-point responses.

For decades, I have covered Donald Trump and recently interviewed him in New York, where he remained confident in his most contentious views, including labeling Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff as greater threats than Russia or China.

The current president has pledged to deport a large number of undocumented immigrants, along with other promises. However, his most passionate speeches are often dismissed by many supporters who view this as typical campaign rhetoric and expect little of it to come to fruition.

Trump consistently dominates the news cycle by pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations, compelling media coverage, and benefiting from negative publicity by emphasizing his key messages.

According to Kate Bedingfield, the former communications director of Biden, Democrats must undergo a soul-searching moment.

One could say that the media could benefit from a break, but I'm not expecting it to happen anytime soon.
