House GOP allies urge quick confirmation of Trump's Cabinet nominees amid stalls.
Texas Congressman Pat Fallon writes a letter urging the Senate to swiftly confirm President Trump's Cabinet nominees.
A group of House Republicans is calling on the Senate to expedite the confirmation of President-elect Trump's Cabinet nominees, amidst contentious hearings and recent delays in the process.
The letter stated that as elected officials, Congress must reflect the will of the American people. The November election results showed that the country desires a change from the past four years of unsuccessful Biden-Harris leadership.
"As we all have a role to play, I urge my Senate colleagues to promptly confirm President Trump's executive branch nominees."
At least 16 House Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, have signed a letter.
During his confirmation hearing for defense secretary on Tuesday, former Planet Chronicle Channel host Pete Hegseth faced questioning from Democrat senators, including Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., about allegations of infidelity and sexual misconduct, which he vehemently denied.
The following day, multiple Senate confirmation hearings were interrupted by protesters.
The scheduled hearings for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to be Homeland Security secretary, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum to be Interior secretary, and former Rep. Doug Collins to be Veterans Affairs secretary were reportedly postponed due to various procedural issues.
"President Trump's nominees have been chosen based on their shared commitment to restoring American values and putting the nation's interests first. As a united executive branch, we can work together to steer the country in the right direction."
"We appreciate the robust backing for President Trump's nominees that many of you have already shown. We must not waver nor challenge the mandate of the American people as we move forward from the past four years of unsuccessful executive leadership."
The letter urged Senate Republicans to provide Trump's nominees with their "complete and unwavering support."
With a 53-seat majority, Senate Republicans can afford little dissent to get Trump's nominees over the line, as Fallon's letter noted.
Although Sen. John Curtis, R-Utah, initially expressed reservations about Trump's nominee to be director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, after hearing his testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee, he now intends to support Hegseth's confirmation.
On Tuesday, Hegseth cleared a significant obstacle when Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, announced on WHO News Radio 1040 that she would support his nomination, despite earlier expressing reservations.
