Hirono Refuses to Meet with Bondi Amid Prosecution Questions
Bondi's comments were met with a stern rebuke from Sen Hirono, who retorted, "I am listening to you now."
During her confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Pam Bondi, President-elect Trump's nominee for attorney general, had a heated exchange with Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono, which garnered praise from conservatives on social media.
"Would you investigate one of President-elect Trump's perceived political enemies if he asked, suggested, or hinted for you to do so as attorney general?"
Sen. Hirono, I regret not having the opportunity to meet with you. If we had met, we could have had a productive discussion and reached a better understanding.
Hirono interrupted and asked, "Could you please respond to the question now?"
"You were the only one who declined to meet with me, but what we would have discussed is that it is the attorney general's job," Bondie stated before being interrupted by Hirono.
Hirono stated, "I am delighted to hear your testimony, Miss Bondi."
"Would you like to know if the president-elect has suggested, hinted, or asked you, as attorney general, to investigate one of his perceived enemies?"
The president has not made such a statement, but I can confirm that two-thirds of Americans have lost trust in the Department of Justice, and statements like that only contribute to this loss of faith.
Conservatives on social media commended Bondi for her response to Hirono's inquiries.
GOP Sen. Josh Hawley's communications director, Abigail Jackson, posted a response to Pam Bondi's criticism.
The Media Research Center posted that Pam Bondi is not engaging with far-left Senators.
"Conservative commentator Paul Szypula posted on X, "Sen. Mazie Hirono's refusal to meet with Pam Bondi was obliterated by Pam Bondi, resulting in a spectacular outcome.""
The Trump War Room posted on Twitter.
Riley Gaines, a conservative commentator and former NCAA swimmer, posted on X: "Maxie Hirono is qualified to be a U.S. Senator but Pam Bondi isn't qualified to be U.S. Attorney General lol."
The Senate is predicted to approve Bondi, and there are rumors that she may gain some support from Democrats.
