With only days remaining in her term, Vice President Kamala Harris vowed not to "fade away" as she signed her name to a drawer in her ceremonial office.

"I won't go through all our accomplishments, as we're aware of them. However, I want to emphasize that everyone here has much to be proud of, and our work is not yet finished," Harris stated. "As you all know me well, after spending countless hours, days, and years together, it's not in my nature to fade away quietly."

The VP remarked that she had met everyone who signed the desk, except for Presidents Eisenhower and Truman.

The crowd of current and former staffers in attendance began chanting "MVP!" after Harris signed the desk.

Harris told her staff that each of them had taken on a life and a calling that involved serving others through their work, and that they were driven by ambition and a determination not to give up, knowing that they could make a difference.

Despite her journey to the tradition being unconventional, Harris participated in the long-standing custom.

As the first female vice president of America during a pandemic, Harris, alongside President Biden, navigated years of crises, including COVID-19, crime, inflation, and the border. Despite the challenges of the Biden-Harris administration, Harris also faced frequent criticism for her "word salads."

Harris' journey to becoming the Democratic presidential nominee was historic, as she succeeded President Biden after he unexpectedly dropped out of the 2024 race. Additionally, the election cycle was marked by numerous controversies and assassination attempts against President-elect Trump.

After losing to President-Elect Trump in November, Harris' political future remained uncertain. Some speculate she may run for California governor in 2026, as Gov. Gavin Newsom is term-limited. Others question if she will forgo the gubernatorial bid and try again for the presidency in 2028.

After Trump takes office, Harris has not spoken publicly about her future, and Thursday's comment was the first on what she could be planning.
