Georgia's 3rd congressional district Republican runoff is won by Brian Jack.
Mike Dugan was defeated by Brian Jack, a fellow Republican.
In the race to represent Georgia's 3rd Congressional District, Brian Jack has won the Republican primary runoff and is expected to easily defeat his Democrat opponent in the November general election.
The Associated Press called the race.
In Georgia's May 21 primary election, Jack and Dugan were the top two vote-getters, but they did not reach the 50% threshold and advanced to the runoff.
Recently, the race between Dugan, the majority leader in the state Senate, and Jack, who advised former President Trump's 2016 and 2024 campaigns, has become increasingly hostile. Dugan accused Jack of being a "D.C. insider" due to his campaign's significant financial support from out of state. In response, Jack criticized Dugan for his past support of a 2015 transportation bill that raised the gas tax to fund infrastructure and maintenance improvements.
Rep. Drew Ferguson, who announced last year he would not be seeking re-election, will likely be replaced by Jack as the next member of Congress from the district.
Republican elections analysts consider the race to be either "secure" or "strongly in their favor."
