Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, supports a Democrat in the House race against another Democrat.
Evan Low expressed admiration for Newsom's leadership and vision for California.
In the race for the U.S. House seat in California's 16th Congressional District, Governor Gavin Newsom has endorsed Evan Low over Sam Liccardo.
"Politico reported that Newsom stated, "Evan Low represents the essence of California's values." The two have collaborated closely on several critical state issues, including safeguarding reproductive rights and addressing affordability challenges for California families."
""Evan Low represents the best of California values and has worked closely with the governor on pressing issues. His proven track record of delivering for Bay Area families makes him the ideal representative for CD-16 voters in Washington," said the governor in a statement, as reported by NBC Bay Area."
The governor's "leadership and vision for CA have been an inspiration" to Low, who expressed his "thrilled and deeply honored" endorsement in a post on X.
Low wished Vice President Kamala Harris a happy birthday on Oct. 20.
"Kamala Harris, our future president, is a leader who inspires us all with her tenacity and dedication to justice and equality. I'm honored to stand with her and run on the same Democratic Party ticket. Here's to many more years of breaking barriers and making history together!"

In 2022, Gavin Newsom, who has been governor since early 2019, won re-election after surviving a recall election the previous year.
He debated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was running for the GOP presidential nomination, during a debate moderated by Planet Chronicle Channel's Sean Hannity.
In the debate, DeSantis referred to Newsom as a "slick and slippery politician" with a failing state.
In January, DeSantis ultimately abandoned his presidential campaign and endorsed former President Donald Trump following Trump's victory in the Iowa caucus.
