Carter's post-presidential devotions were recognized by Clinton and received praise for initiatives such as the Carter Center's support of honest elections, peace promotion, and disease combat.
"I am proud to have presented the Medal of Freedom to him and Rosalynn in 1999 and to have worked with him after he left the White House," Clinton wrote. "Our thoughts are with Jack, Chip, Jeff, Amy, and their families."
George W. Bush, a former president, stated that Carter was a person with strong beliefs who remained devoted to his family, community, and country.

Obama stated that Carter promised voters he would always be truthful, which Obama claimed Carter fulfilled.

When I had the opportunity to spend time with him, it was evident that he lived these values and taught us how to live a life of grace, dignity, justice, and service."

President-elect Trump also reacted to Carter’s death on Truth Social.

As a result, we must express our gratitude to him," Trump stated. "Melania and I are sending warm thoughts to the Carter family and their loved ones during this challenging time.
