Five billionaires who support the Democrats were not mentioned by Biden when he criticized political "oligarchy."
President Biden has received support from George Soros, Reid Hoffman, Howard Schultz, Michael Bloomberg, and Tom Steyer.
President Biden has cautioned Americans about the emergence of an "oligarchy" posing a threat to the country, but did not mention the billionaires who backed his campaigns in his farewell address.
Biden stated that the "concentration of power among a few wealthy individuals" is leading to an "oligarchy" in America, which poses a threat to democracy, basic rights, freedoms, and opportunities for everyone to succeed.
Here are five billionaires who have recently supported President Biden:
1. George Soros
In September 2023, filings reviewed by Planet Chronicle Digital reveal that George Soros, a left-wing billionaire, investor, and philanthropist, donated $250,000 to the Biden Victory Fund.
In the summer, Biden's campaign received a check from Soros, which was followed by a maxed-out contribution from Soros and his son Alex, who manages the Open Society Foundations network that supports left-wing nonprofits and causes.
In the 2020 presidential election, George donated $500,000 to the Biden Victory Fund and millions more to super PACs supporting him, while Alex contributed $721,300 to the Biden Victory Fund.
On Thursday morning, Alex Soros posted an Instagram story featuring a picture of Biden and a caption that read "Joe Biden warns of an 'oligarchy' emerging in America in his final White House address."
2. Reid Hoffman
On April 26, 2023, Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, donated $699,600.00 to the Biden Victory Fund, the campaign's joint fundraising vehicle, according to FEC records.
In June 2023, a fundraiser was held at the private residence of Shannon Hunt-Scott and Kevin Scott in Los Gatos, California, on behalf of the super PAC, and Biden attended it.
3. Michael Bloomberg
Last year, sources confirmed to Planet Chronicle that former New York City mayor, billionaire entrepreneur, and media magnate Michael Bloomberg donated nearly $20 million to aid President Biden in his potential 2024 election against former President Trump.
In the 2020 presidential election, Bloomberg, a former Republican and then independent, and later Democrat, donated $19 million to the Future Forward PAC, the leading super PAC backing Biden's re-election campaign.
4. Howard Schultz
In 2020, Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks, declared his support for Biden and pledged to contribute to his campaign.
"Schultz wrote in a letter to supporters that our choice in November was not about selecting one candidate over another, but rather about voting for the future of our republic."
Schultz emphasized that democracy is at stake, including checks and balances, rigorous debate, a free press, acceptance of facts, belief in science, trust in the rule of law, a strong judicial system, and unity in protecting our rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
5. Tom Steyer
In 2020, Biden reportedly raised $4 million during a virtual fundraiser hosted by a select group of billionaires and other Silicon Valley donors.
An invitation stated that the virtual event was hosted by Climate Leaders for Biden, a group comprising environmental activists such as billionaire and former Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer.
